  1. Hi

Having had my calipers rebuilt, then painted, I am undecided which lubricant to use on the guide pins

I've read a lot of people's opinions on the type of lubricant to used.

    My questions are:

    - Which lubricant did you use?

    - How long was it before you routinely check them?

    - Were the guide pins still moving freely?

    - Did you "Top up" on the greasing the guide pins?

    Thanks

I run Hid,s in my low beam outers, useless at night, standard bulbs in hi beam. Fitting them was a doddle, hb3 kit I have and swapped the rubber rings from Toyota bulbs to the hid bulbs and in they went :)

    Hi Skiny

Where did you get your kit from?

Have you got standard bulbs on your fog lights?

  3. Hi,

Im wanting to go for more brightness thank stock bulbs so I'm looking for opinions on whether to go for a HID Kit/Xenon/LED bulbs for my ep82.

Any links you can point me to would be greatly appreciated.

Also can someone advise what bulb types fits the ep82 as I can only find info relating to the ep91.

    Many thanks

  4. Welcome to the forum! Keep us updated on how you get on with the GT. Ive got an auto ep82 myself. had it over 2 years and i use it everyday. I always planned to convert to manual but ive just not got round to it and the auto box is pretty good.

A friend of mine has an evo 5 or 6 cant remember now and that had been modified with the hand controls in.

Have you had any mods done to your GT Auto?

The Hand Controls are pricey, I've had 3 sets installed to all the cars in the household including my daily driver, but then again the independence it gives you is priceless.

I've taken loads of pictures, mainly to use a reference putting everything back together again, I could start a new thread regarding my progress

I've started off cleaning and tidying the engine bay and found an oil leak form the rocker cover gasket, so while I'm at it I might paint to rocker cover before reinstalling it.

    Welcome to the forum!

Is this the one i've seen round my hometown.. (hereford) ?

I'm afraid not mate, I'm up North in Bolton.

  5. Very nice, looks in very good condition from the looks of the pics

Sorry I can't help you mate with regards to the auto box, I never needed to do an oil change on them, hows the gearbox oil looking? Is it a nice dark clean red or a dirty looking brown?

If it's dark clean red then I wouldn't worry.

It's a dirty brown with a burnt smell to it also, so it will be changed before it hits to roads again

Hi Kalp, welcome to the club.

I've got a Glanza V Auto myself and changed the ATF fluid on mine when I first got it. As Mart1 mentioned, if it's bright red then the chances are it won't need changing however if it's dark brown/black like mine was then I'd definitely change it. Changing the ATF fluid resulted in much smoother gear changes and it's a easy job so it's definitely worth doing it. I'm planning to convert mine to a manual later this year with a good friend I've met here.

If you jack your car up or use ramps, get underneath. You will see a bolt under the transmission box a bit like a sump plug. Undo the bolt/plug and transmission fluid will follow out. It's important that you use a bucket or something to collect ALL your fluid. You will need to measure exactly how much you take out and replace with exactly how much you take out. I used the automatic transmission dip stick hole to put the fluid back in. You wont be able to remove all the fluid out the box in one go. So if you plan to flush the whole system, I'd carry this proceedure out twice over a period of a week or so.

Sounds like an easy procedure, one that I could handle in my condition. Which ATF do you use for yours Shyam?

Also, have you heard of LubeGard Platinum for ATF? Came across it last week which seems to be mainly available for the American market but is available to buy here at an extra premium by the looks of it.

  6. Hi

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your GT auto, I've owned two glanza v autos but never been lucky enough to find a nice GT Auto

I would like to pick your brains one time about the Auto box, more so about best way to change the ATF fluid as mine will need to be done as I'm not sure when it was serviced.

  7. Hi

I'm a newbie to the site, although I have owned my Starlet GT Auto for 8 years now, unfortunately due to health reasons (I'm a paraplegic) I haven't been able to use it for the last 5 years. It got used within the household but for the last 8 months it's been stood and I'm slowly working on getting it mechanically sound and ready for its MOT by doing as much as I can myself, then I'll be able to get some hand controls fitted and enjoy driving the GT again.
