  1. Hey bud, I've been provisionally accepted if I get MMM in my BTEC. Doing Motorsport Engineering too, but at Oxford...Brookes  Haha. The course sounds ace! And the single seater race car stuff is done in your own time called Formula Student

I can't wait, hope I get in like!

  2. Alright, thinking about this logically. I think you know that doing something to their cars will cause a massive problem to you. Engine oil would be funny, but I think they'd get you back. Put some diseasel in a spray bottle and spray some on the windscreen as you walk past. Thats reet funny.

Try ringing like Damien said, that'd be good. But alternately, keep ringing the police or just ignore it. Sucks to be in that situation though mate!

  3. I know OF someone who's done it, I think he's running a tad under 400bhp. He doesn't use forums though I don't think, I'll try to find out some more stuff.

  4. Its a real shame that theres people like that on the net ^_^

Look at it this way spend £1400 on something you dont really know whats happened to it... or get a bit of negative feedback on ebay! i know which id take !!

Im glad you have named and shamed tbh! i was looking at this myself, and debated the 5 hour drive for 1400 motor.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the feedback. We think the turbos blown a seal or maybe a pipe. But aside from that, still not worth it.

Now my mates stuck back looking for another car. It's a tad annoying.

  5. REVIVE THE TOPIC!

    GOOD MORNING UKSC!

I've just got in, I'm steaming, have been to the local Uni's party in one of the biggest night clubs in town, named the "Porn Star Party" should've seen the outfits on some of the girls, I was walking round with a permenant semi on! Majority of women out in corsets and underwear, was like I'd died and gone to heaven, cheap drinks too, awesome night for a Monday to be fair haha.

Now I'm off to sleep and hoping I dont get a hangover in the morning lmao.

You bastard. Your night sounds like a reet good time!

  6. Bit of a long story but after much looking we found a car that sounded reasonable for my mate and the ebay listing was running out that night. Course we had to view the car so we shot up there (just over an hour drive) to have a look at it. Was dark by the time we got there, but I had a good look round and it all seemed really good, immaculate really (well, close). We then won the item on ebay and today went up there to get it, thatâ??s when everything went wrong.

I'll list the rest; it'll be easier to read. In chronological order...

    1. When we first viewed the car he said he had a solid buyer at £1390, 'if you bid 1400, youâ??ll get it.' he said. Bit weird that this bidder couldn't push a tenner. But it was obvious he wanted £1400 so fairplay.
    2. After bidding £1400, we won. So went to view the car in the day. He came round his street corner with his mate in a van as soon as we parked up, bang on time.
    3. Got the car out of the garage and immediately closed the door, as soon as possible.
    4. Bit of oil on the shelf where the bonnet catch is, seemed a bit too fresh. After inspection a lot more was above the manifold on the bonnet closer to the side with the turbo on. All the engine bay felt oily, but as if had been recently wiped 'clean' (still slimey).
    5. Okay, I was a bit iffy, he said the previous night he was a pretty reasonable mechanic. Then he said he had no idea what it was from and I would know more (I don't know much really).
    6. Paperwork. Having a quick browse through, as you do. I find a hand written receipt for and I quote, 'GT Starlet - £900 *registration number* - EP82-*chassis number* - signature'. He wanted £1400 right? Why the hike, why did he say he bought it for £3000, that he got a bit ripped off. He very quickly said that it was for an engine; he then grabbed it off me and said he'd keep it. He never mentioned an engine change until then.
    7. On the paperwork note again, a proper garage receipt with proper print, said there were two faulty wires with the electric windows (or something of the sort). Erm, it has windy windows.

Needless to say, I politely told him to get stuffed as I had no idea what it was, mileage and all. I couldn't have my mate (clueless on cars) buy it.

Whats your thoughts on this? Happened to you? Any advice? Real shame as it looked really good... Here's the advert. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/977095.htm

    Cheers for your help guys,

    Mike

  7. You've pretty much admitted to us all u were doing wrong, 80+ is a law breaker, wrong side of road overtaking 2 cars is too :p ..

and on the situation of not admitting liabillity come on bourkey.

Jeez guys, he doesn't know what happened, he said that. He only knows what they have figured out from the scene, and that might not be accurate.

I don't know what your drivings like buddy, but from reading your posts you don't seem like a plank, I hope it turns out you weren't in the wrong and it was for another reason. I wouldn't worry yourself over liability for a little bit...

Glad your well though, how badly injured are you now? Any lasting affects?

    Sorry bud,

    Mike

  8. So I failed for being in the wrong lane which I couldn't do anything about.

Not trying to be a cockend but...

I did the same thing as you on a bigger roundabout and I passed. The trick is how you deal with the mistakes you made. You could have turned off to the left and explained why, or if you were in a safe distance, you could have safely moved over into the correct lane (indicating, checking behind you, mirrors and shiz).

No point in getting upset, unfortunate, but if you drove straight over the roundabout anyway you were doomed to fail.

But with the website, that's just plain shitty.

    Cheers.

  9. Do I try? Haha, I'm not sure, I don't know if it'd look right... But I have seen it look good on some really different cars (this comes to mind).

I have a prime car for it, dents, a bit unkempt and that. I'll have a think about it, in the mean time I may paint my wheels a funky colour, steelies and that!

    Any more opinions?

  10. It suits the beetles and mk1s alot more dont you think, unless youve got the old mk1 starlets (not sure on the model name of that one??) decked to the floor on some dishy rims im not sure putting an 82 or a V through it would work well??

Be the firs to try and prove me wrong though! :p

I've got an ep82 (not a quadlight). I'm not sure though, I may have to do some photoshops!

I'm still confused how they do their bonnets... They must protect them after rusting them, surely?

[EDIT] Yeah Scutch, I agree with that mate, I'd rather the whole car be ratted rather than JUST the bonnet.

  11. What's your opinions on rat look cars? I know it's mostly either old cars or VDubs but it has progressed into other cars as of late, like Pug 106's. How do you get the rusty orange bonnet? Is it rubbed down with battery acid then glossed over to prevent further rust?

    A few examples:

What do you guys reckon to it? Starlet? Haha. I think it looks like fun, a real change.

    Cheers.

  12. I'm POSSIBLY also interested lol... how much?

But then again I'm fussy with things like this, don't fancy a car that's been damaged but still... 4WD is win.

edit - hang on this IS 4wd isn't it or am I thinking of the wrong car lol ?

Nah bud, ordinary 2wd here. Looks like the 4wd though, sorry to disappoint like though.
