One year down the line I suspect I need a new front left wheel bearing ,the wheel are has some strange noise where the vehicle is in motion and currently I have even parked the vehicle till I have sometime to visit garage and have it done .The bearing was replaced December 2015.

The offset and width is very weak but to answer your question then yes I would think they will fit.. It's just a matter of if they go over the brakes.

Kindly help me understand what you mean by "weak offset and width" .

I managed to have the system working again by replacing the bulbs on the left hand side .So far so good.Thanks to everyone who helped me resolve this mystery.

I had a thorough check on Wednesday and i didn't find a short circuit , what i noted is that i had to press the front left indicator bulb for it to work, I tested the system for a couple of times and all was well.I tried to clean the socket contacts and i was happy to have fixed the problem.

FFWD..... this morning i hopped into the vehicle and the indicators were not working again infact the fuse had blown and now all the indicators/hazard + horn are not functional.I think its time for me to visit a pro on this since its now beyond me.Very frustrating.

if the bulb is bridging on itself it will make your fuse blow. change bulbs again and report back they are only 99p each

As Richard said. But for it to blow a fuse like that it must be a dead short. Replaced any bulbs recently?

The only bulb i have changed was an indicator but its on the right hand side and the problem i am experiencing is on the left hand side.

Have you checked the bulb by any chance lol?

I had a look earlier in the day and it seems ok, but I didn't think of swapping with the right side one .

Can a bulb make a fuse to blow ?

Hello All, I am puzzled by a problem that cropped up yesterday at night.I am having a problem with the left indicator function and horn.Anytime I indicate left the system blows the fuse,the same happens when i press the hazard indicator.I replaced the fuse to test and noted that indicating right does not blow the fuse.The left indicate function blows a fuse at the fuse box below the steering column which is rated at 7.5 A or a 15A at the engine bay.The 15A affects the horn.What could be the problem ?????

I did minor service on EP91 and i have noted that in the morning the bonnet vibrates unlike before.The only thing i did was use flushing oil since the engine was filled with deposits and instead of using the synthetic Toyota 5w 40 w i used Shell 15w 50W mineral oil since i intend have a comprehensive service in less than 2 months time.

Could the oil be the problem ?

I am contemplating changing the 3 speed auto transmission if at all it's possible to a four speed auto ,kindly advise if this is possible and if the changes are major.Thank you.

I am planning to have the car serviced tomorrow but in a dilemma, my plan is to use Shell sythentic oil this time .Considering the Kenyan climate/weather whats the ideal Shell synthetic oil viscocity specification i have never understood the W's.

How long am i supposed to use the vehicle before draining fully synthentic oil ?

I contacted Toyota Kenya and they quoted TOYOTA GENUINE SUPER LONG LIFE COOLANT ,get it tomorrow and flush the system .

I am in a dilemma , over the weekend i helped my friend with my starlet.He was to travel almost 400Km and before the journey he went to a local Total Service Station where the attendant had a check on the car and they advised him to top up the coolant.He bought a litre of the Total COOLELF Auto Supra coolant( pink- orange )and topped up the reserve with almost half a litre.

He drove all the way and back with no problem.

When he got back is when i saw the container and i realised that he had mixed the original green coolant with the above.On checking around the internet about if its safe to mix i read that its not safe since the mixture turns acidic and corrodes the engine and radiator.Kindly advise if this is true ?

I have shopped around for "green" coolant and only found the below.Is it good for starlet engine?

take the cambelt cover off and have a look, it could be leaking from the rocker cover, the cam cap seals, oil pump maybe or the crank seal low down.

I will open the cover before the end the week at report my findings here,I have observed that the leak seems to happen everytime I drive.When the vehicle is parked the leak seems to go away .Asante @bean.

I have just noted a very weird thing.The passenger seat belt indicator flashes when a passenger fastens the seat belt.What is going on ? I thought it should flash anytime a passenger doesn't fasten the belt.

Many people say that a starlet that doesn't leak oil, doesn't have any oil in it lol

Both my 4e's have had leaks in that area, common fault I'm afraid

What puzzles me is that, a week ago there was no leak and nothing has been touched "inappropriately" on the engine bay.I will give it another thorough check this week and I hope I will find the source of the leak.I want to point out what the problem so that when I visit the mechanic he will not make me buy almost all the seals available locally in the hope of him trying to fix the problem.

I have a slow oil leak on the area near the belts and timing system.I have tried looking the specific source of the problem but i can't pin point.Aaaargh 😠.

The leak was not there in December last year.Is this a common problem or it's just an isolated case ?

How do i check if the starlet is a 3 speed auto or 4 speed auto ?
