    Hi,

My name's Derrick. I lived and studied in the UK but recently moved to Kenya for work for the foreseeable future.

    I drive a light blue N/A Starlet and also ride a Suzuki GSR 600. I'm a true PISTONHEAD :p

    I'm happy to be here!
  1. Cheers Patman! Nafeez mate, the mechanic specified the leak coming about from a faulty throttle component that allowed air inside when the throttle was closed. He wasn't very clear with the explanation so planning on seeing him sometime this weekend as soon as I get time off work so he can point out what he did. Tbh, i'm befuddled by his explanation hence the need to swing by his workshop and get some clarifications. I'll update the thread when I get the info.
  2. Problem sorted! Found a leak in the throttle body. Hard to explain because I had a professional sort it out from his workshop as I was slogging away at work. Cheers Patman and Nafeez!
  3. I've also checked the sensors and the lines for vacuum leaks but it's an all clear from that end. I'm honestly stumped on what the issue might be.
  4. Title says it all... Had a minor service coming up for my EP91 and did the usual - oil & oil filter change, spark plugs change, air filter change and a check on the state of my brakes. Problem started after the throttle was cleaned with carb cleaner, from the outside (it wasn't dismantled at all). The car now has an irregular idle that disappears when the car is running at highway speed, and rears its head when i'm in traffic or on low gears (1&2) and driving at a slow speed. Moreover, there's no check engine on the dash. I've tried several solutions: disconnecting the battery for
  5. Took ages to go through this thread from start to finish but boy, Amjad, you've done a super job on the N/A. Looks and sounds super! Best looking N/A i've laid my eyes on. Did you finally pass her on to the lil' bro?
  6. I know this has taken a while but here are photos of my motorcycle (fair weather ride) and Toyota Starlet (daily driver). Uploading photos here is a pain in the ass My Starlet: http://s1098.photobucket.com/user/jatelo/media/2016-04-04%2003.27.28%201_zpsiiivag4l.jpg.html?state=copy&sp=false My motorcycle: http://s1098.photobucket.com/user/jatelo/media/842d435b-f272-474b-89c3-f04e888ff477_zpsr7wx2poj.jpg.html?state=copy&sp=false
  7. That's a trip i'm still considering Legend009! I prefer flying down there though
  8. Welcome mate! Depending on the oil, 5k is the ideal service intervals.
  9. Cheers Wastegate86. Happy to be here!
  10. My name is Derrick and I recently moved back to Kenya from Ol' Blighty. I just got my NA EP91 3-door about a month ago as an alternative daily driver, to my sports bike, a Suzuki GSR 600. I'm a all-rounded petrolhead to be honest I am not keen on doing any modding as I love how the starlet looks stock. I got the car from a British mate who was moving back home so it has the typical wear and tear to the body work (a few scratches here and there) and a tear or two with a couple of stains on the rear seat. Buffing should sort out the scratches I reckon? Took the car for a wetvac but the
