  1. The engine management light has recently come on so It might be that, Is there any way of finding out the error codes and yeah the joys. I bought the car knowing there was a few niggly bits that need doing, but the more I work on it the more bodges I'm uncovering. I'm tempted to take the engine out, sort it out properly then whack it back in. might be a job for the winter
  2. Cheers for the reply, what sort of problem would that cause me? and where is the knock sensor so I can have a look tomorrow and see if its that or not?
  3. Hi guys I got my first Glanza and thought I should start some of these as I've been doing a bit of work on her recently. Spec: Blitz nur spec exhaust Toyo sports manifold Toyo sports downpipe Speedvision ct9 hybrid with adjustable actuator set to 0.7bar Poorly fitted front mount intercooler Crappy boost gauge HKS turbo timer Momo steering wheel Not to keen on the wheels but its something I can change. Does anyone know what these are worth they are lenso bsx. After 1 day of owning it I broke down on the way home from seeing some pals so I got it recovered home and stared to look at it the following weekend. The exhaust was blowing before I broke down so I got some gaskets ordered and when I went to change them I found that there were only 2 nuts holding the turbo to the manifold. So I got that sorted and also changed the manifold studs/nuts The more I am working on the car the more I'm finding stuff to be bodged by the previous owner which is really starting to Pi** me off. Once I fitted them bits I started the car and it had a misfire which I sorted out and it was fine after that so I took it on a small test drive, got 100m up the road and It died on me again. It had a misfire again so I ordered a ignition overall kit from mike @TD and got it all fitted yesterday. While I was fitting the parts I had a look over the engine bay and noticed that the alternator belt was only half there after it rubbing on something causing my car to keep dying. so I've got new belts ordered from Mike @TD again and will get them fitted next week. Excuse the Cam Cover ! I know it looks awful Picture of the alternator belt compared to the power steering belt. Also when I was looking over the engine bay once I had taken the belts off. I noticed a connector that had been broken and I'm just wondering what its from, I cant see where it goes but the wire goes into the same part of the loom as the injectors if that helps at all. I've got some big plans for the car in the future but my main objective is to get it sorted first, sort out all the bodges that the BELL**D before me has done and then start with the tuning, thinking about a GT28
  4. cheers guys! ive ended up ordering a det 3 from rrr engineering. how do i go about fitting it. is there a plug and play loom i can buy?

  6. fair enough guys, again i really appreciate the info. from what you guys are saying i think its best to go for the ecu master. its more healthy for my wallet aswell lol. have you gone standalone? and also where did you get it all fitted etc

  8. okay mate ill have a butchers at his build thread. best look for a new tuner then. i dont really know of any tuners but ill have a look around

  10. i have been warned about lc before so i know its not something to be playing around with/ abusing. cheers for the heads up anyway. i spoke to redline tuning today and they said they wont map an ecumaster as its a cheap untested ecu. i think i will go with a dastek unichip so I'm just waiting for a quote for fitting and mapping.

  13. cheers for all the info guys really appreciate it. i spoke to them today and it all depends on the spec of the car with the price. unfortunately they don't map emanages, only reason i would go for the e manage is one of my friends is selling a e manage for a really good price

  16. as it says in the title, have anyone used redline tuning? i would like to go to mike at td but its a serious trek for me.
  17. Hiya guys, apologies as this is fairly similar to my previous post as i still haven't found the problem with my car lol. Basically when i start the car from cold it has as high tick over of 2000rpm then the warmer the car gets the revs will drop every now and again. then when it gets to running temperature it starts hunting. Someone on here told me to take off the idle control valve and give it a clean, which i done yesterday and it helped it slightly. the car was at a more stable idle for longer and then the revs would drop again, then be idling fine and then drop. i thought i would take the car round the block to give to give it a slight test drive to see how the performance was, i got about a half mile down the road and it just died, so i pulled over and tried to start it again and it was clicking like the battery was dead. once i let it cool down for a couple of hours i come back to the car, jump started it and the exhaust was blowing, which was odd because when i was driving it when it broke down it wasn't blowing. i turned the car around to drive it home and i had no throttle and the revs were hunting again but to the point where it nearly cut out and it sounded like it was misfiring. once of my mates said he reckons it could be the coil pack and ht leads playing up. i had a look at the king lead and the end that plugs into the coil is a bit damaged but it still makes contact with the coil. what do you guys think it could be, the way he described the coil problems seems like it could be that

  21. okay mate, I did think it would be maybe a vacuum leak, how would I go about checking them. thankyou for the advice
  22. Hiya guys, I'm pretty new to owning a starlet ( ive had it a week) ive got a 1997 ep91. When the car is cold it idles around the 2000 mark which I know is wrong!. Then when the car starts to warm up the revs drop ever so on and when its up to running temperature it starts hunting quite bad. Then last night, it happened I turned the car off went and had dinner then come back outside to start it again and the battery was dead. I jump started it then all the lights where on the dad like I had just turned on the ignition so I turned it off and restarted it, it was hunting then when I went to move it around on my drive I had no throttle and the revs where going down to the point where it was nearly cutting out and it was jerking. any ideas what I could be before I take it to a specialist?

  24. Bought my first starlet on Wednesday evening (20/07/16). Absolutely love the car, fell in love with it when I test drove it! shame I broke down Thursday night (21/07/16). Not too sure what the problem is but I have had a look and think it might have something to do with the exhaust blow it produced before it broke down, the coolant temp sensor isn't working either so i think that might have something to do with it. cheers, Lewis
