Don't get wrong i like the setup i'd just be a bit worried that someone else likes it too much too. I like the headunit. I have alays wanted a double din screen for mine instead of the flip, as the Starlet has the perfect space for one. Some one would probably rob it from me though. My first car was robbed from my driveway so a DVD headunit wont last long. A lot of dicks where i live.
The late spec rear lights look smart. Im after a Remix front bumper as well as they are nice and chunky. It would look smart with my FMIC as well.
Does a rav 4 steering wheel fit a Starlet?
Bourkey
i think there the same, was looking at a guys and they look the same, as though there same from the same mould, but havent had the airbag off one so i dont no if the centre nut is the same thread/size?
im not too bothered about the last couple of mods so if i find a grill ill give you a shout before i have it ;-)

So that screen in your boot is a tv?
Crazy!
Arnt u scared someones gonna rob it or sumin?
I would be
Looks wikid tho
i know what you mean mate, was 50/50 whether put it in but i got it for nothing because the speakers on it dont work lol and to be honest, ther'll break in for the head unit first anyway, plus i dont leave it in dodgy places lol, in it most the time.
nd cheers bourkey, theres a couple of little things i want now but other than that i think im going to leave it as it is,
a fancy some late spec rear lenses and a remix front grill, thats about it if you no any for sale
and wudnt mind the rav4 steering wheel, looks the same step up as mine but in black nd silver?
by the way, nice starlets ;-)

im havin right trouble gettin parts cuz theres never any starlets about in scrapyards near me
i want a tte spoiler 2
ah i think i saw you at the festival one night
i got it from a scrapy up in rochdale, japs of rochdale, had a starlet sr in 1ao silver same as ours with 4 speedlines and the tte spoiler, a bought the wheels and the bootlid for 100 :-)
when i went there was only two there, a white starlet s and the silver sr but it might be worth giving him a ring, i think theyve got a website aswel
if you cant find a tte you could always get a cd spoiler, there not quite as big but theres alot more around
ill keep me eye out for one anyway ;-)

right, think its time for an update
and since ive been gone the starlets give up, after the previous owners life of drivin to london, leaving the car standing for the week while they went uni and then driven back up and round stoke at the weekend the oil had congelied (conjeealed, god knows!?!?) and blocked the oil pick up, the piston rings got stuck round the pistons and after alot of blue smoke i had to strip it down, new engine gaskets and seals kit, big end shells and rings it should be back up and running tomorrow
other than that theres...
dvd tv sd card touchscreen kitchen sink head unit
600w 4 channel amp
jbl 300w 6x9's
kenwood 12" 1200w sub
marble "boot build" (i say boot build very loosely as its basically a full width sub box and boot floor)
corolla inlet manifold (£20, which i thought was prety good)
glanza front and rear seats
sprayed up rocker cover and calipers
sprayed up centre dash and clocks surround
next on the list is....
getting rid of the mid box for a bit more noise
red reflect rear lens
and a starlet remix grill
but thats all after a holiday and a phone
ill get some pictures when i can as the starlets in my garage in a right mess :-(

Most motor accessory shops can make these up for you....A2 in burslem, stoke on trent if u live near stoke sell these, they will use standard letterin, font and size but can do anything u want but remember they become show plates only the minute u change them and the shop u bought them from are not to blame if u use them on the road and get pulled....
this is my no plate on my car...
my design for the no plate
this one is the same but with space for your name
this one has no space for your name just the toyota starlet
this one is blank and has space for your design on the side and bottom
this one is a standard no plate template with space at the side only for your design

4efe engine knock
in N/A E-Series Engine Discussions
Posted
if anyone can help here it would be much appreciated....
when i start the engine after its been standing for a while it knocks only for a couple of seconds then goes quite, also when i hold the revs around 3000/3500 rpm it also knocks, the obvious answer i assumed would be the big end shells, this all came about after the oil pick-up filter blocked causing the piston rings to get stuck in the pistons, when i stripped the engine one of the shells was slightly scored with no major damage to the crank journal, after replacing rings and shells the engine ran ok for around a month before the engine started to have this knock, i have replaced the shells again although they didnt seem to be worn, and the noise is still there
are there any known weaknesses of the 4efe that could be the problem here, other than the crank big end shells obviously, as my next move is to remove the crank for regrind and over sized shells
thanks,
brad
