Time has come for an upgrade for a comfy car. Given up modification hobby. Taking up too much time and $$$$. I have already reached my goals on my EP91 and cannot push further......doing anymore work will start breaking things....
It's my cruiser/daily car - Auto, Sunroof, 17" rims, 6 CD changer, leather. Unfortunately in Australia, FD2R is not available at all. Was keen on EP3 but no insurer wants to insure the car.
The Starlet has been sold to another Austarlet member. Hopefully it will be taken care as well as I did in the past.

haha might nab a bit of 10mm cable and do a few myself lol
is 10mm cable big enough???
Thickness are usually measure in gauge....
I use 8 gauge
-
From my experience dealing with oil gauges, don't tee directly into the block.
Use a sandwich plate for the oil filter
or
Use steel braided lines from the oil pressure switch (and tee it there)
The reason for that is, the sensors are made of brass and I have seen so many times the sensor tip snap and fall into the bottom end ($$$ alot to fix it)
-
Lol where else can you put them?
Big 3 is good enough. You can have an extra one to the intake manifold if you really want to
-
so what are the big three? is it the ones for the gearbox, engine and chassis then?
Yes, that's the big 3
-
I made my own. 3 big 4 gauge audio wires.
1 to gearbox
1 to engine
1 to chassis

Hello nic im doing the n/a up for my girl friend if she a good girl she can have it but if not
i will keep it lol as for the turbo I've spent to much on it to let that go its my baby
what you after like mate lol?
Cool, maybe we can compare once you have completed yours
-
Now them side skirts look well better nic I've just got a n/a that im doing up at
the miniute I've just got a full glanza kit for it and cant wait to get it on lol
Mick, you planning to keep NA or turbo?
-
Good luck with your project...should be real good

New pics uploaded on 1st post

Hello nic have you got tha inlet manifold on yet matey i sold you?
and i bet that side exit exhaust sound,s nice
Nah mate, haven't installed it yet
Needs a retune when I do that, and I have other priorities at the moment
-
Glanza ecu no good. I have 7.1 or 7.3 of lift with turbo cams. Were your cams reground standard ones?? What duration did you go for
Billets with 272-276 Duration
-
Recently added a Glanza Rear bar and side skirt
Don't have pics yet but everyone knows how it looks like....
-
cheers mate. I already have an air filter, straight through exhaust and corolla mani on it so mayb cud look into an ecu... what does gettin a new one do? and you recon i shud get a piggyback one or jus a glanza one?
Depends on your budget
Piggyback ones will do if you are on a tight budget
-
What lift you gettin from your cams?? Is it intake and exhaust
8.4mm lift on both intake and exhaust side
-
I dont really no how much bhp my sr has but im interested in what difference your Microtech LT-8 ECU made mate or what difference any different ECU can make, because might have to look into changing mine if it brings good possibilties of higher break.
^^ as what he said
Get other stuff done up 1st before moving to independent ECU.
Other than that, you can run piggy back ecu
-
glanza 's' fuel rail and injectors....ecu as aswell from glanza 's'........apparently make a good diffrence
No use for my application. Fuel rail is the same with 4efte.
ECU as well is pointless, I have independent ecu
-
Thanks for the feedback.
I have already planned to a bigger TB/ITB and a new tune (whenever I can find it)
I just want to compare with other 4efe owners on what they have and what I am lacking.
There is no point for going more suspension mods Some of you may already know I have kept that part of modification up to date.
-
That's quite impressive, I've always been interested in tuning the 4EFE but it's just not cost effective when you can spend the same amount on a turbo engine and get alot more power for the money.
I see you've raised the rev limit there, I think raising it some more and fitting some ITBs is probably the next step?
There no point really to raise the limiter as you can see the power and tractive effort dies after 6800rpm. It's really trial and error playing around with a retune if I can find a suitable tb
-
All,
I am chasing more power in my 4EFE. I believe I have maxed out my engine but want to do a comparison with what other owners of 4EFE has.
I'll start:
- Full exhaust system; Pacemaker extractors, High flow cat, 2.15" cat back, 2.15" sports muffler
- 4efte intake manifold
- K & N Pod Filter
- NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
- Top gun ignition leads
- Oil catch can with custom made brackets
- Custom made high lift cams
- TRD 0.5mm headgasket
- Mild ported 4efte head
- Microtech LT-8 ECU
- 4efte rods
I'm currently making 86 wheel hp. It should be making slightly a bit more now with a better flow exhaust system I just made. I'm still trying to chase up and find a suitable bigger throttle body for more power.
In Aus we don't have bhp calculation but basic rule of thumb is 2/3=whp of bhp. So but working the calculation backwards, I should be making around 128bhp.
Please post up your mods and let me compare

Diesel are used to clean the petrol engine. It helps getting unwanted crap off
Did the mechanic then replace it with standard petrol engine oil?
-
I totally agree with you StarletRick. There has been confusion between all of us in Austarlet
All arguements coming from the top blokes;
Jezza323 and co said it's the same cam
10sec_rx7 and -Harry- saying it has extra 1mm lift.
-
4ewfte have higher lift?
you got any proof of that?
There have been many discussion on austarlet about this.
http://www.austarletclub.com/forums/index....mp;hl=4efte+cam
10sec_rx7 is no longer a member in austarlet but used to be a highly respected member, so we gave him benefit of the doubt
-
Glanza S, Glanza V, 4efe, 5efe are all the same cams.
4efte has 1mm extra lift but same duration.
5efhe off a SERA will be the best to go

Australia didn't release FD2R. This is the replacement without type R engine
