  1. See I've never understood that, just because your in a big powered car and there's a teg / clio / starlet behind you you have to try hard to stay in front. Let him pass follow him for a bit. Then I'd pop back into the pits and have a chat ask a few questions maybe even ask for a passenger lap to see your lines and braking zones etc etc. No one wants to go home on the bus ;-).
  2. Have I missed something here mate. Isn't the idea of track days to learn how your car handles and reacts to different inputs in the safe confines of a track environment. Maybe these people in bigger powered cars are learning how they handle rather than having a go on the street and causing an accident. Alot is down to the driver but have you ever considered on a track that our Starlets are worth quarter of the price of some of the cars on track and we therfore push them so much harder. To be honest it shouldn't matter wether you are in a Starlet , Scoob , Evo , mobility scooter whatever, you
  3. It uses those invisible driveshafts, thats why it's so terrible.
  4. It is awesome watching a big powered Starlet struggle for traction :-)
  5. As mentioned in a straight line and with a rolling start , there probably isn't very much that will keep up. Off the line and round the twisties against something like a well setup , well powered Evo or Impreza (not the type that think they have 400/400 with a decat and a remap) you will struggle. I love my Starlet and loved my 348bhp black one but against my P1 round a track or off the line I wouldn't stand a chance. That said 300bhp in Starlets / Glanza's give you a grin factor that probably nothing else will except a bike.

  7. They are cracking mate, looking forward to getting her back on the road.
  8. UPDATE: Today Abbott was kind enough to remove the engine while the car is still at Rob Barnards place. Lots of pics and they kind of do all the talking. Hopefully Rob will have the engine stripped down within the next few weeks I'll have all the nice rusty bits powdercoated and the bolts zinc plated ready for a nice install once it's all finished.
  9. Far too big for what I need mate 370cc will suffice ;-)
  10. Would love those manual windows in mine
  11. Hopefully mate maxed injectors out @ 1bar on the little td04 greddy so bigger injectors and some nice boost would be great.
  12. Well after 185'000 km's, probably adding 50bhp from what was the factory output HP wise. The Ring trip Charity track day Snetterton The old girl finally let go on the 4th run @ TSS on Saturday:(. I spent 7 hours on Friday prepping the old girl, drove to Snetterton saturday morning and then the inevitable happened. I was halfway through the course and heard a loud rattle, managed to limp her back before finally dying on the home straight. Congratulations to Abbott who won the Class at JPP Vit who came second. Well Saturday I am taking the engine out and seeing the damage before fully forg
  13. I'm not going for big power mate so it's not going to be a silly cams and inlet and all that jobbie. I have the p1 for that so hopefully it'll stay reasonably cheap.
  14. LMAO, Rob Barnard is building this one ;-) learnt alot since then. No sand included in this new one. God In all seriousness I think the initial problem occurred last weekend at Brunty airfield. Went out for approx 30mins and could hear a small noise from the bottom end. I mentioned to James that I think I'm going to have to refresh the old girl asap. Anyways the noise then seemed to dissapear in the afternoon and then came back and vanished again. After 3 laps of Snetterton and then the 4th killer lap it knocked alot and the engine died. It's either a bearing or its cracked the skirts
