  1. Hi all

Is there anyone using or at least willing to help with knowledge to read compressor maps so as to tell which one fits better to our 4efte little engine? Gtx2867r gen2 or g25-550? Now for the last 10 years I ve been using a precision ptb205-4828 with a .48 t3 hot side housing, fully forged engine with 265 cams, producing successfully 330hp. Attached the maps and exhaust flow diagrams of both. Also my dyno sheet with the old .48 housing.

After a recent rebuild found cracks to the turbo housing so after lots of lots of research I found a .63 housing BUT with a result of all the behaviour of the car changed to too laggy and even less powerful as a feeling and as a fuel correction needed to the fuel map, lower rpm and higher rpm too.

Even better if someone is already using one of these.

Thanks a lot for your time

    Hi Jack,

It is, as its better for spool in most instances. Exhaust gas is 'lazy' at best so minimising the bends it has to flow through is beneficial. With a top mount manifold on a starlet with the space you have you end up with quite a lot of sharp radius' that will effect your spool.

I ran a T3  precision with a .48 a/r housing, it was ok, however even with a small housing it was still laggy. Look at a T25 housing imo to give you more options. A T25 .6* will spool a lot better than a T3 .6* a/r.,

    Hi!

Do you maybe still have this housing? I need a housing, my turbo is fine and my housing is cracked, looked everywhere got in contact with precision, no luck for such an "old" turbo, which in my case still dynoed 3 months ago, produced easily 330hp with mild tuning, not aggresive one, so would like to keep it  at least for now!

Great information and read. The c160 I've just pulled down and compared to the c64\63 is different again lotus 2zz.

I just had an "epiphany" to check on tmc and voila...almost everything came in place...with your help of you all I think we got to the end...c52 and c150 is the only compatible boxes with c161 after all. So only options are quaife and 41301-10071 (hard to find), concerning helical at least. Didn't search at all for clutch type. Thanks

Yeh there very rare the factory lsd units these have a different right side drive shaft (shorter) on the starlet so becarfull if you get offered 1 of these.

Yep the MR2, Celica, vvti corrola drive shafts are different and the differential bolt holes are different.

Only the facelift e11 (kind of vvti too) share the same differential with all the previous, e12 and newer models are the next "batch":) Glad we figured it out:) Kaaz or Quaife for everyday use and little street racing?

The Jdm ep82 GT turbo and ep91 glanza lsd units fit.

Thank you Sam....far less options since all the ads around are for celica and mr2 lsd but...at least I found out what fits:) As far as using it...it's better to go with helical like quaife for evey day use and little street racing and spirited driving...no track use here:) Also there was a 41301-10071 factory toyota oem lsd for these boxes....but not anywhere found anymore:)

It's the same an aftermarket LSD that drops in a Glanza/Gt box with 8 bolt crown wheel. The 5speed Starlet/paseo NA box has 6bolt crown wheel and doesn't fit.

Thank you very much, so it's quaife qdf15e-2 or any other that fits glanza/gt. I was almost certain after researching part number from toyota and cross-checking with glanzas that we share exactly the same differential. Most of the ads selling lsd are from mr2 zzw or celica zzt that don't fit apparently. So my only option is quaife or kaaz ? (Helical I guess for every day street use and some street racing, right?)

if your not willing to take the box down and check first hand im not sure what you want other people todo ! apart from take guesses like i did.. youve done alot of reshreach and come up with nothing would you rather order the wrong diff to find out it dont fit ! then send it back (more money ) incure a surchage (more money) to get the correct one !

its not as if you can use the car in this day and age ! (lockdown)

stop looking for the easy way out to put it blunt !

    Check this from toyota's program

So now I've got my differential's part number

So now did I help anwering my own question? So it's the same differential with c52, c150, and c161?

I'm all the way with you...of course you are right...but if anyone knew and have done it before, I would know if I had to spend a fortune for a new one or if a used one from a friend I already have in my hands would do the job just fine and ordered other parts with the same money meanwhile:) Also I would know if I need another gearbox (so maybe extra repair cost and job) or if an lsd fits mine which is already in great shape.

    Thanks though

theres two types of diffs for the starlet 8 bolt and 6 bolt

    8 bolt turbo

    6 bolt n/a

why dont you give them a call ?quaife

    Thanks for your response!

I've pmed them and they responded with the following two:

    https://shop.quaife.co.uk/toyota-aisin-bc16-quaife-atb-helical-lsd-differential

    https://shop.quaife.co.uk/toyota-corolla-ae92-starlet-ep82-ep91-quaife-atb-differential-1219

They told me that they don't know what fits because they don't have a record (?!?!?) and I need to measure mine myself, the've sent me the drawings for both, telling me that the first is for the c52 and the 2nd one for the c64. They didn't propose the ep71 one....the thing is I need to have it here (if any fits) to have my gearbox down and disassembled and put it on and reassembled...not waiting for several days with the car disassembled and fiund out that nothing fits...I'm finding lots of celica and mr2 lsd ads but some of them tell it clearly that they won't fit corolla/starlet etc

I'm leaning little towards QDF15E the starlet 4efte one since the gearboxes are interchangeable with the corolla 4efe....

Going by the photos its a clutch type LSD and as it has the internal cage it is probably a TRD unit although I have heard there are a number of LSD units made in the same factory and labeled as different brands. The cusco unit doesnt have the internal cage so the clutch plates are larger among other differences.

This is a TRD clutch type LSD with the older design ramps

And to confuse things there's also a TRD Helical unit like im currently running... :)

Can you shed some light please?

I own a 4efe corolla g6 6speed gearbox stock driveshafts1.3 lt, so can you please tell me which lsd fits just right in? Is it quaife for the starlet?

Preferably a helical one since it s for everyday use and little street racing and my little research came up that disc type lsd are little harder.

Thanks a lot for you time

129mm c5x vs 136mm c6x also the diameter of the crown wheel is different aswell

So can you please give me a hint on what fits where? :) I own a corolla 4efe g6 gearbox which I already use with my stock driveshafts. So what lsd can I use to fit my gearbox? Is the quaife for the starlets suitable?

I'll be using the c160 LSD from an ae111 which is why I'm asking. If you get yours in before I do it will be interesting to know what it's like

Finally what fits where? :) I own a corolla with a 4efe engine and a g6 gearbox 1.3lt engine, so what lsd can I use to fit right in?

Im running this gearbox  c160 bzr

It's my first starlet turbo and Im really. Very impressed. I was just reading up on the gt and glanza box and must admit its a strange gearbox the gear gaps are some of the biggest I've ever seen. It's got me alittle confused.

I think the 5th gear is a economy overdrive only gear to bring down cruz rpm at 60 70 80 mph. Japan run a strick 110kph speed limit, which is a god send for these cars. The car shape and design will hit a massive drag resistance around 120mph requiring big hp and torque to increase speed past this point.

The long gearing Im puzzled at with a ct9 stand system I can only ashume it was seen to be unsafe with shorter better accelerating gears and diff. Combo. Which no manufactures want the cars to be know as killers.

From the information I've gathered the corrola c series gearboxes are the best ratio's for acceleration but topspeeds are lowered. The c series box design here in most examples is heavy car/ small engine cc. These gearboxes will also increase reliability, they have the capability to reduce engine loading if used effectivly. With the c63 and c64 and C160 the exception. The C160 is geared to improve torque because the 4age produces high hp low torque levels.

The c64 and c63 being true short racing boxes and the best option in my opinion. The fact its found in the lotus the example.

Is any body running the 63 or 64 gearbox I need to talk to you.

Can you possibly help and let me know what lsd fits my e11 1.3 4efe g6 corolla?

  15. Hi all

    I own a 4efe e111 99 corolla with a g6 gearbox.

I ve searched all over the web indeed but I couldn't find any definite info.

What lsd fits this gearbox? I ve found some lsd from celica zzt230 / mr2 zzw which must fit, but can someone who has done it please confirm? Quaife doesn't confirm either, instead they just sent me the drawing with the dimensions to compare it with my stock differential, the thing is I don't have my gearbox out. I m after a helical one since it's going to be for everyday driving car and some street racing and a little weekend spitited driving:) Can someone help?

    Thank you all
