but they could give me any old parts am sure they got loads lying about I wanna see the work being done infront of my own eyes now sadly And if am wrong and it is the gear box at fault I'll appolagise and pay for the labour to remove and refit box but that's only if I see the work being done myselfIf it does turn out to be release bearing. And td supplied the clutch. Then it should be done under warranty with no charge. And also if they do take the gearbox out. And say its the input shaft you are withen your right to ask for the parts back that they replaced.
And I'll come bak and sort everything for them
And bring there rep bak am not here to slate anybody just want my car sorted fair and square with out being mugged off
-
Just take up the free play on the pedal for the release bearing. And input shaft would be all the way. For sticking gears it could be the springs in the clutch. Of they snap you would also have trouble getting it into gear. Mainly when it's got warm
Now that's getting me worried as when it gets warm it's somtyms gets hard to put in gear and it sticks more
-
The point is, the car went in with a fully working gearbox, it comes out making a rattle/noise.
Either the wrong gearbox was put in and a duff one at that Or the clutch assembly is faulty.
This is what am saying people don't realise it went in fully working came back out making a noise
-
Usually release bearing make a like sqeaking noise as well as a grouching noise. Where as a input bearing is really loud and makes a rattle noise but won't go until the clutch is fully depressed
I'll have a look into it tomorrow so if u put the clutch down like half way and the noise goes away that would indicate its the realease bearing
And for it to be the input shaft bearing the clutch would need to be all the way down?
What about the issue with the gears sticking?
-
Noise is kinda loud..... When u put the clutch down it goes away and other times when u lift the up slowly it quites down
-
Tim checked it with a mechanical stethoscope and he goes the noise is coming from we're the clutch sits
-
Td was asking 450 to replace the input shaft bearing

Looked wiked at japfest bro and awesome on track

i havent read a thing here that needs to be on a public forum.
from what ive read and what redline has said, he doesnt have a great relationship with TD and is ruining whatever relationship he has by moaning and complaining about every attempt they make to sort the issue for him.
if you have lost all your faith in him redline then continue moaning and encourage TD to live up to the rep you seem to wnat to give them.
otherwise, accept that its a VERY minor issue that is unlikely to be TDs fault (clutch failure is a component issue) and allow them to sort it.
Every time Mike has came back with a response it has made perfect sense to me.
only the TD responses filtered by your keyboard seem to be garbled.
Phil
So td are sorting it?
Number one when u paid all that money I have u expect to go pik up the car running fine that noise has been there since day one
Number 2 I goes am willing to take it to someone else but I was told if I do so my warrenty is void Just by another specialist taking the box off
Number 3 they never once said yh it could have been a duff release bearing all they keep saying
Is its the input shaft bearing So it dont seem like its on them to do the work under warrenty as I could understand if I done some miles on it and I was ragging it and it went faulty, as soon as I piked it up from them the noise was there and at that point I've not even done 0 miles
On the engine myself
4 I've taken the car to 2 starlet specialist including
Tim @ tb developments who highly regarded and they both said could be a faulty clutch or
Release bearing
-
If you guys said to me to begin with it could be a possibility that it is the release bearing i
Would have left the car with u, but it seems
Like u were stuck on the idea that it was the input shaft bearing and nothing else
Guys you got to remember that when i gave the car to them there was no noise from the box or
Clutch or anything soon as I went to pik the car there was a noise there So it's obviously means somthing went wrong when they installed the clutch or it's a duff realease bearing
-
As far as I know u guys might try and cover your own back once you got the car and say its the input shaft bearing, when there is a few people who had realease bearing issues with the spec
Clutchs to be honest I've lost all my faith in you guys so like i said if u want to inspect the clutch and change the clutch I wanna be there
-
You never once said to me yh mate could be the realease iswell as you know u would have to
Do the work under warrenty all u stuck by was saying its the input shaft bearing.....
So that makes me think u guys are not
Willing to do the work under warrenty so I am not
Leaving the car there unless I am
There myself now
-
StuDoc 72, not true, although we are offering to inspect for the customer instead of I would presume incurred cost from a third party.

Mike u did say to me that if I take the car else were that the warrenty would be void
You also said to me that the issue with the car is the input shaft bearing 100% and that nick is always right but the symtoms are
Telling me somthing else, Tim checked it and he goes release bearing or clutch kevin checked it and said the same thing, all I want is for
My car to be sorted and if you want to do the work on it I wanna be there myself to inspect it

No excuses are being made by us, words are also being twisted in favour of making a point of view seem more valid.
Redline has advised he could not leave the car with us and that he would like to come down on a Monday to have it stripped and checked, the earliest Monday we have free is now the 26th August.
After a conversation yesterday, Redline was going to see about the possibility of letting us hold onto the car for a week or so, as a Monday isn't viable for a long period of time. He was also going to phone and let me know whether this was possible, not add fire to the flames on the internet, but hey ho.
We have not once said we wouldn't assist, the clutch isn't made by us remember, if there is a faulty item, then it goes back to the manufacturer, its a no brainer. From seeing and using the car it is our opinion that there isn't a fault with the clutch in this case.
Just for clarity, Redline, if you would like to sort out booking the car in then please give me a phone on 01925 822 266. We're here 7 days a week so i'm sure you'll be able to catch me easily enough.
Cheers

You said leave the car there for a week which obviously I don't want to do as it don't take long to do a release bearing as u said u guys are so busy and I use the car as a daily...... Like u said the only monday u can take the car in is the 28th of August so then I said I'll get the work done from some one else then u said that will void my warrenty on the engine which is abit shocking
As we're only touching the gear box
-
Well that's not on! How's changing the cluch going to affect warranty on an engine?
I don't know mate as I know the clutch is faulty or the relase bearing so thats all thats going to be changed or inspected its not like am taking it to a cow boy its going to another starlet specialist as these guys are busy as his saying he wants me to leave my car there for a week as I can't do that as I use it daily somtyms and these guys want the car for a week..... Or he told me to bring it down on the 28 of August for a day which am not going
To wait that long for .... As I wanna see the box being taken off my self and I wanna have a look at the clutch and a new release bearing being fitted so I knw they 100% changed it cuz am fed up
-
Am kind of stuck as mike goes if I get the work done from anybody else my warrenty on my forged engine is void don't understand :/
-
Give Tim@ TB Developments a ring mate, he'll look at it for you. He's only round the corner in Kidderminster and is a Toyota specialist. Tell him Adam sent you
07779 415207
Already been to Tim mate yday he said its the clutch or release bearing 100%
-
It does sound like release bearing to me and it should be since other starlet specialist are saying the same except td so I don't blame you for being pissed off
Just listend to it bud
When he looked at it did he just listen or strip it out to find the problem?
-
Where are you based?
Birmingham westmidlands

Redline,
We inspected the car for you as requested, before mapping, and gave you our diagnosis.
We also adjusted the clutch pedal to ensure the slave cylinder was getting enough movement, we then road tested the car, all was well.
I then gave you the option as you were unsure about mapping, you had a think about it and decided to have it mapped, so we did. Again the car was ok when on the dyno, and again fine on the second road test after mapping.
Nothing is perfect, we understand that which is why when you repeatedly rang the workshop, the advice was to bring it and let us listen and have a look, as it is useless speculating over the telephone
This is the first I've heard from you after mapping, you haven't contacted me at all, despite me asking you to let me know how you get on with it, we were also about 20 yards from you over at JapFest yesterday, did you not think to pop over if you think you still have a problem? I spoke to your brother on the Sunday morning briefly and nothing was mentioned either.
Cheers

I know you checked it and everything but it has still got the same problem....
Since mapping that's right you have not herd from me, that's cause you guys are not sorting nothing out, so there is no need for me to get in touch
If someone local to me is willing to have a listen to my car or even take it for a little blast I dont mind .....

Right guys were do I start, as some of you know I had my glanza forged at td not long ago, the day I picked her up there was a noise coming from the engine bay as it was my first forged engine I thought it was piston slap then later on I realised when I put
The cluch down the noise goes away so i thought obviously it's the realease bearing as the gears were sticking iswell so I got on the phone to mike who told me to put some miles on it which I did and he said he will take a look at it
When I bring it down for mapping, I was worried as I spent all that money and I started getting opinions off other starlet specialist who told me
Also that it's the realease bearing, as it was fine before I gave them the car, so I kept staying
Intouch with mike who kept saying
To me he will take a look when I take it for mapping, so I kept calm and run the car in and took it in for mapping, on the day of the mapping
they never mentioned nothing about
The problem untill I mentioned it, I goes am not going to get the car mapped untill the problem
Is sorted so they decided to take a look and came out with saying its the input shaft bearing
In the gear box, I don't understand how it
Can be the input shaft bearing because when I gave them the car it was fine as soon as they changed the clutch kit for a brand new spec six puk paddle clutch which suppose to be supplied with a new release bearing, I goes to mike I need the car sorted today before mapping which to he said we dont keep and realise bearings in stock which I thought was abit wierd as I thought he was trying to put it off, but he kept telling
Me nick noes his stuff and it's deffo the input shaft bearing he goes we adjusted the clutch peddle and it's not sticking no more, then he goes it's up to u if u Want to map it or not but he assured me that the rattle will not affect the car in anyway and u can continue to drive it after mapping so in the end I decided to get it mapped as I travelled all that way down to them as it would have been a waste of a journey and fuel and time,
On the way home I realised the gears are still sticking and the car is a appsalute Pain to drive up on till now
I dont understand how u can say its the input shaft bearing just by listening to the noise.
Now am not on here to slate anybody as this has been like this since I got the car back they could have sorted it but they just don't seem like they want to
I've paid near enuff £3500 including mapping
And I can't even drive the car properly
And now am vary of giving the car back
To them as they could just make it up saying
It's not the realise bearing so I'm
Stuck in the middle of a shit expiriance and a car that don't work properly
-
We're are u from bud? Will u be at japfest ? If so bring them with u might take them
-
Doesn't sound like td are willing to admit fault but im sure there's others on here that more about this issue
I know mate after spending all that money u would think a reputable company like TD would sort it no problem now am stuck in the middle....
Will be taking it to someone local after japfest and if it does turn out to be the clutch or release bearing I will be striaght on the phone to td
-
Let us know how you get on mate
Will do thanks agen

That's the thing Tim told me same thing with the gears sticking could be a fuked clutch so were do I stand if a brand new clutch fuked up before the engine was even run in/mapped
