    Damn car got hijacked last night ;) 4 guys punched my mate, the window was down and they ripped the keys out the ignition, got out to em but nothin we could do was only 2 of us, got the car back in 20 mins though, few guys chased em out the road they eventually ditched it and ran, lucky she the turbo was in low position or shed be wrecked, was raining heavy and on country back roads.

    Scary!

  2. It was running at .9 boost with the leak and 1.1 bar now with it fixed though think i'm still leakin but can sort that just lookin for the rite part.

    The leak was also stopping the turbo from spinning up quickly so it seemed to hesitate but thats fixed now too.

  3. first pic is of the std re-circ. valve, can just take it off and replace it with a blanking plate/2p etc

    pipe in your hand is the vac. hose that went into that and should go into your BOV/Dumpvalve

    second pic is what i assume your bov, alough i'm not quite sure why the std re-circ. valve is still plumbed in in that fashion AND more to the point is that you MBC/bleed valve seems to not be plumbed in. :) that'd be why your boosting that way and get a huge hiss from the front if it! or is it just a huge hoop? any better pics?

    just to compair here's a pic of my bay..

    The bleed valve is an odd one, she is plumbed in the bottom part your prob lookin at is just a sticky out piece of metal i assume for using a bracked to mount in somewhere.

    The hiss is gone now, just fully plumbed in the standard re-circ valve, musta been the after market dump valve leaking real badly. cars running brilliant now.

    Can't get the re-circ valve popped back down into the hole on the air intake pipe though so just kept it blocked with a grommet. Ideally i'd like it on there but just can't get it in.

  4. Got er fixed i think, the dump valve he had on was constantly dumping so was loosing all my pressure, hooked up the stock one, 3rd, 4th and 5th gears are all now pulling like they should, feels like a new car!

    Still think its running lean so bookin er in for a R/R and health check.

Ok hooked up the standard dumpvalve proper and shes now boosting 1.1 bar so there was a huge leak, think i'm still leaking a but and i also think my dials are reading wrong, all it is is a piece of paper set over the top of the original dials and the 60 MPH is not stright up which is where i thought it should be (after lookin at my brothers MR2 dials) my 60 is at about one oclock if that akes sense.

  6. It will go above 87 mph but a standard Saxo VTS at 120 Bhp is getting 95 to this bridge, hell my 1.6 Punto sporting with a full tank of fuel and a passenger got 80 mph and its only 88 bhp!

    as for where i'm getting the boost reading I'll go take a pic cause i'm crap with knowledge under the bonnet!

    I'm the first driver of this car from it was imported so would it be a prob with the ECU learning to use our lower 97 RON fuel or anything like that?

    Also no matter how much i screw the bleed valve out she won't boost over .9 bar, think the hiss just gets louder, i mean when the car is coming towards you all you can hear is a huge air sound from it.

    Ok two pics here the first is where the boost guage T-piece is and the second is a pic of the exhaust which to me looks very dry and sooty, when running theres no moister on it at all. Is she running too lean or something?

  7. Ok can someone tell me what this does? It's not popped down into the black pipe below it and theres no hose connected to the side of it, the black pipe below it is blocked with a grommet.

    Any ideas?

  8. Ok guys hopefully yas can help me out.

    Theres a bridge in town up the dual carriage way to measure the performance of our cars. My starlet EP-82 GT Turbo is only getting to 87 MPH now my brothers starlet same year an all was getting 116 MPH all it had was FCD, Air filter, 1.1 bar boost and a downpipe. Mine was running Air filter, .9 bar boost and i think it has an FCD but can't tell (little black box behind the center console with some wires going into it.

    Now a standard GT turbo normally does about 100-105 mph to this bridge (hope your all still with me)

    Ok I just fitted a stainless steal manifold and decat, I havn't got any boost increase or performance for that matter, still getting around 87 mph!

    Now 3rd gear the turbo seems to take a while to spin up and when accelerating with the window down theres a huge hiss comming from what i think is the front right of the car (in all gears this is) could this be a boost leak causing my probs? My boost in high boosts to .9 but drops off quickly at about 5000 RPM

    Can someone explain fuel cut to me? Is it rash or does your car just not go as quick?

    Someone please help! ALso the car idles at about 2000 RPM untill its been drove for about 10-15 mins.

    Hmm i hadn't though of going the ECU route, do you know of any website with info on this?

    Going to take the car to the rolling road for a checkup, want to keep it running right.

    My brothers EP82 had the water injection in and I thought it was a nice wee touch, he regrets the day he sold er :p he loves these cars so he's at me to get her sorted :p

  10. Hi I'm new here, and also a new starlet owner.

    Does anyone know if upgrading the Manifold in my EP-82 will give any power benifits with minimal mods?

    Currently have Blitz Airfilter, full stainless steel exhaust and downpipe, bleed valve and running .9 boost.

    Future mods planned are 315cc injectors, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, front mounted intercooler and water injection. But these are about 6 months away.
