Only been on the forum a matter of weeks and ive noticed this guys 'race' topic threads
-
This is shocking tbf they have different rules for different people. I had a Yozza Sport Race Ragnotti track system on my cliosport and it wasnt road legal it was the loudest thing ever sounded like a bike, but they let me off after decibel testing it.
Unless you were being rude which i doubt you were or they rigged the decibel meter to pi*s you off then thats pretty harsh.

It had to be done but geting a nice clean one this weekend
you will have all seen it befor not on hear but on pistonheads
it was well over priced so i slaped him with a fish and got it cheaper

98s should be late ones, the lates were 98 and 99 (or so i have thought for the last 4 years lol!!), perhaps she is an early 1998, just before the facelifts.
was just a heads up incase some night at a cruise or a car park or whatever you get some wee goon tryin to argue with you about what model she is. that happened to me once, some FOOL tried to tell me my tail lights were off a glanza...even though I was the moderator and he had never even owned or played with a glanza in his puff, yet he was adamant he knew more about my parts than me......you ALWAYS get one. some mothers do have them.
really likin all the black additions man, looks mean as hell!!!!!
why did you take the splitter off though???
Phil.
haha, he obvioulsy new more about your car than you .... NOB!
I didnt really like the look the splitter gave the front end, might try it back on though.
-
Looks immaculate mate! Get a build thread up, and get that front lip back on!
Cheers man,
I wasnt sure on the lip :s
-
that looks nooooooooooooooooooice man great work.
but i'm gonna be a prick a bit here....she aint a late spec....she's got the pre-facelift front end and tail lights - although the front indicator units are late spec...unless the lad before you made a few changes to her looks with the earlier nose and lights.
nevertheless, you've done some serious work on her in a very short space of time!! very impressice man!!! black roof with the mirrors and bonnet looks real smart!!!
Phil.
Ah i see, i thought with it being a 98 model and with all the toys on it then it meant it was a late one.
But thanks for the heads up mate , I have alot to learn
Cheers for the comments every one

Alright guys already made a few post's ect about problems ive faced already.
Ive recently got rid of my huge spec track clio sport and decided it was time to go jap.
When i got the car it was in a pretty poor state body work needed a bit of attention as did the engine ect but i saw a challenge ahead and got to work pretty quick.
Only had the car a week and already blew around £2500 on her, well worth it i must say.
How the car looked when i bought it last week..
Pretty poor qualitly picture...
I must admit i wasnt keen on it when i bought it but it's a high spec 1998 late model with climate control/footwell lights/illuminated key ring amost other factory extras and had pretty low milage so it had potential.
Got it MOT'd
And serviced it myself then...
Got my money out and orderd:
Large FMIC
Monster Motorsport Air Filter Relocation Kit
Rota Slipstream Lightweight Alloys With Toyo T1R's
HID 8000k Headlight Kit
Carbon Culture Carbon Bonnet
Bailey BOV
Black Glanza Side Decals
Filter Style Breather
Damaged the radiator removing the Air Con so its got a new radiator too.
Got the roof panel painted piano black along with the wing mirrors
And got some adjustable coilovers on order
Added a few stickers here and there ..
Its been pretty good so far had some pretty decent cars in the past and im really enjoying this project so far, with alot more to come in time just ran out of funds for now.
But as you can see its come along pretty quick and im loving it at the moment.
The forum seems pretty good compared to others and alot of helpful people on here
I look forward to coming to meets and events with the car.
Any comments appreciated good or bad.

Whatched it last weekend with a load of people, my mate couldnt handle it and went out the room lol...
VERY scary film!
-
Anyone????
-
Ive had a few cars with hid's and fitted them all myself so soon as i got the glanza last week I orderd some...
They came..
I fitted them..
..and the N/S light flickers and does no illuminate / power up? ( with the HID's in )
I initially though it was a problem with the bulb or the ballast so i tryed other ones off friends cars still no joy.
Quickly after work today i went down the unit and took the kit off to send back as faulty.
Then when i put the standard bulbs back in the N/S headlight bulb is very dim but works slightly. ( Obviously there wasnt enough power to power up the ballast on the HID )
So i would appreciate any help with known faults and a fix to my problem..
Cheers Lads.

Im having problems with my paypal account
haha thanks lads

Let us know how you get on
Mate, i owe you £100 definatly!
Its sorted. The pipe was abit twisted and squashed in other places as well.
Thanks for your help
-
What a load of pish you dont need an adjustable actuator at all!!
I know what your problem is. I had the same problem with my filter kit and FMIC.
You have put the stainless pipe on the reloaction kit too far down the samco pipe. Therefore the air is getting blocked on the 90 degree bend.
The monster motorsport kit is SHIT. Its just universal piping off ebay or somewhere and not the right size for Starlets. We had to cut my stainless pipe down.
Take your filter off and the stainless pipe then take it for a drive
Then you can give me £100
Yeah when i recieved the kit i was like ehh i could of made that myself lol.
I'm gonna go down and have another go with the filter off like you said soon
Oh and by the way i owe you no money if it works
-
yes the setting wont change. when you are driving are you getting a whooshing type sound when trying to boost if you are there will be a leak. also check your actuator doesnt have any movement in it as this may also cause the problem
Im not aware of any noises under boost ect.. what sort of movement are we talking about with the actuator?
To clarify the car achieved full boost and ran perfectly until this FMIC and relocation kit was fitted :S
dale.
-
a standerd actuator is not adjustable
by the way have you checked for leaks in the intercooler piping
So even if you remove the actuator and put it back on it will be set at the same?
erm yeah is there any easy way of checking for leaks in the pipeing?
as i carnt see any as such.. everythings tight ect.. ?
dale.

you need an uprated actutor like an HKS mate
funny you should say that, its been playing on my mind that the car isnt right so after all day stripping it and rebuilding it, i decided to go back down the unit and havea nother attempt in the freezing cold and pi**sing rain.
explaination...
when i put my foot down it very slightly boosts and occasionnally the first light of the turbo comes on and then quickly goes off. the BOV is fairly quiet but is obviously realeasing a little bit of pressure.
Back to the actuator side... when i was putting the filter relocation kit on to the turbo i removed the two bolts holding the actuator in place and moved it up around 2 inches with the rod still attached purly to get acess to the clip i was putting onto the pipe on the turbo end.
After all i did was move it back down into place and put the two bolts back in, now have i made a mistake there? are you supposed to set them back up to a certain mesurement ect..
so my question is how do you set a standard actuator up?
any help appreciated
dale.
-
if you are still using the standard actuator i think you just block it with a screw
marck
I tried that like mate and had a quick drive and was no different. what is that pipe actually for though because it obviously used air from the induction piping for a vaccume ? and since ive put the filter relocation kit on theres no boost at all thats why im pointing towards that pipe.
dale.
-
do you still use hi/lo boost or have you bypassed it
I have bypassed it but obviously the standard airbox piping has the nipple on for the pipe. but the filter relocation kit doesnt and its just hanging there. from what i can see the pipe comes from the wastegate round the back of the power steering pump.
And yeah its a standard actuator
-
Are all the pipes done up ok?
Yeah.. im just having problems figuring out where this vaccume pipe now goes as it is just in open air.
-
Basicly ive fitted a FMIC and a airfilter relocation kit from monster motor sport and im etting no boost at all.
Firstly you know the pipe from the HI/LO boost solenoid thingy that you swap around to remove the first and second gear restriction. Well that pipe no longer has any where to go because the old pipe that came from the turbo to air filter had a small nipple type thing for it to go onto. and obviously the filter relocation kit is just a silicone bend and a metal pipe.
So i need to know where this vaccume pipe now goes?
or any one in Northeast/Durham area could come and take a look? I have a industrial unit and tools ect that i do all my work in so the car will be there.
much appriciated. Dale.
