white v with livesports spoiler
gman0121 replied to gman0121's topic in I Spy, Have You Been Spotted?
HAHA small world! what course you on? -
fitted a digital tacho in mine mate, it came with instructions. but its pretty straight forward. one wire to earth, one to the dizzy and one to run off an ignition feed (i used the stereo). could be different depending and what tacho you go for. you can also fit dials from an sr but thats more expensive and more work to swap over. hope that helps buddy Dan.

looked pretty mint! didnt get a proper look, was late for uni. but defiinitely livesports spoiler, black rims and bonnet. reg was S120 something. Dan.

right so have decided that i am going to be converting my sportif to 4efte towards the end of the year once im at uni and wont be needing my car daily. have tried reading up about best ways to do it etc but cant seem to find any consise or definate answers. from what i understand theres 2 ways to do it: 1- complete engine and dash loom from turbs into n/a 2- engine loom from turbs spliced into dash loom of n/a would prefer to do the 2nd option but will have to see. what sort of a job is it to splice the looms yourself/how much would it cost to get it done? does it make much difference if using ep82/91 donor vehicle? just basically trying to find out how to get the best spec for the least money/hassle. will probably end up buying a whole car as a donor but then in a quandry because that would be a large initial investment for probably lowish spec. or buy parts and then have the problem of ending up missing bits and bobs and the budget getting out of control any help and/or advice would be hugely appreciated!! Dan.

everyone has got a mate (or a few) that will always sort them out a DEAL. at the moment i am particularly happy that one of my pals is the manager of my local mcdonalds! bap bap! so i go in to get a bit of munch after a pretty hectic night at an illrgal rave under some canal bridges. and i order a ''big mac meal". i end up getting a big mac, quarter pounder, double cheesy b, 2 large chips, crunchie mcflurry and a large coke. all for £4.38! sorted! this is not a threaad to say which car part you got a discount on but what other shite have peeps got connections to???? Dan.

cheers pal really happy with the way its looking atm. just need some more powaaah Dan.

righty ho. so i bought a spoiler earlier this week (thanks to 'theminiguru' for that ) and had it sitting around for a few days while i decided what i was going to do with it. was contemplating getting it painted caribbean blue or leaving it white to match the wheels. but came home 'slightly' inebriated a fews nights back and thought fack it ill sticker bomb it and see how it looks. so after a fair few hours of stickering i had it completed and got it fitted. i think it looks rather sexual i know it wont be to everyones taste but i didnt do it to please them. once i had the spoiler done i had some left over stickers so decided to do my wind deflectors aswell ;) . i havent seen either a spoiler or wind deflectors bombed on a starlet before so glad that its a bit different decided to go and take a few pics of the car today (despite the fact that shes filthy atm) and im quite happy with some of the shots. Dan.

x2 bought a spoiler from him a few days ago. swift transaction, no problems, decent price, arrived next day. and i definitely nearly lost my temper trying to get all the packaging off! top lad! ;)

got into work this morning and about 5 minutes later a bloke i work with walked in limping really badly. so i asked him what he'd done. his response was "just tripped over youre fucking exhaust!". was taking the piss but ye it does stick out 'abit' far. only left it sticking out that far because i was in a rush to get some where and the sleeve that goes from the box to the exhaust was FT so just got it on a bit and clamped it for now. think i will have to cut the sleeve abit more and stretch it out slightly so it goes on further. Dan.

despite writing this out 3 times now and my farckin laptop deciding to restart itself, i will persevere! sooo another few things to update. firstly i recieved my wind deflectors yesterday (not genuine but pffft) so got them fitted straight away. they are pretty subtle but i think they add a lil sum summin, might sticker bomb them next week to see how that looks before: after: quick snap i took tonight of my xenons fitted, cant really see the blueness in the pic but they look pretty schweet and work a treat and finally i fitted my new backbox which i got last week from mij exhausts in brum. went for a 3" exit so not too big with a blue burnt tip. firstly i removed the old backbox which as you can see has a fook off hole in it and the welds had also started to blow through, and cut off the hanger and bracket for the new'un. then i welded the hanger and bracket onto the new box next i had to cut out a recess in the bumper where the nex box would sit as the old box had a lower exit then inlet. taped off the area where i would be cutting to try and minimalise the damage i would inevitably cause. i then held the box under the car where it would sit and my mate marked above it on the bumper where to cut. simples. maybe not. while laying underneath holding it in position i neglected to take into account the fact that the pipe going to the exhaust was sitting in a different position to normal as it wasnt being held up by the rear hanger. so as a result the mark was made well to far to the right of where it shouldve been. so now have more of a half oval cut out instead of a circle. peenarse. anyway after all that aggro and NO swearing or putting the blame on anyone else i did manage to get it fitted and im pretty happy with it only issue i have is that im not too happy with the angle of it as it points down slightly (the exhaust i mean) so will have to do some more 'tinkering' next week. apart from that this week i have fitted new disks and pads front & rear, 2 new wishbones and arb drop links and am waiting on some new track rod ends to fit. also got some big plans in mind for it later on in the year thanks for all your comments and as always any more are welcome Dan.

small update. bought some exhaust wrap the other day and it arrived this morning so thought id whack it on after work. i bought 10m x 50mm thinking it would be enough but i only had abit left after i had done the downpipe and de-cat pipe so will have to get some more to wrap it all the way to the backbox. i read up about how to do it and some people were saying to overlap 25% every wrap and some said 50% so went with 50% just to be safe. have also bought a new backbox as my current one has a hole in the side but need to get a clamp for it and weld a hanger bracket on before i can fit it. also bought some sticker books to do some bombing so far have just done the facia and handbrake surround but have got some wind deflectors on order so they will also be bombed and possibly the bonnet aswell. apart from that i bought some blue xenon bulbs which i havent got a picture of yet. but the improvement in the light is pretty fookin good! all comments welcome Dan.

FINI/MIAT project ;) (PIC HEAVY)

cheers mate -
right. been meaning to do this for ages but never got round to doing it, so here goes. this was a project we did at work last year. took 7 months to the day to complete it (bearing in mind it was only worked on mostly out of hours). dont know the exact spec of the uno as i dont know too much about their setup and all the engine work was done by previous owner. -ported & polished head -uprated turbo (not sure which) -S/S manifold -full custom 2.5" S/S exhaust including decat -larger front mount intercooler -on lowering springs all round, 45mm i think -drilled and grooved disks all round -mintex racing pads all round -front and rear strut braces -re-trimmed adjustable corbeau buckets -laminate floored bed according to previous owner it was running around 180bhp. apart from that we've integrated it to run a dual rad. because the original rad wouldnt fit in the front we got a custom rad that was about a third as tall and 3 times as deep. however we couldnt find any suitable fans to it so we have also used the original rad and fan in the rear behind the cab. so there is coolant hoses running through the wheel arch, passenger footwell and out the back of the cab lol. bodywork wise there was a shiiit load of welding and fabrication involved to fit the two together and strengthen it sufficiently. originally we were going to try and integrate the bumpers off the uno but soon found out that wasnt going to work. the various vehicles that have donated parts to the body are: 1275gt mini pickup shell, mkii uno turbo floor pan and bonnet (which we managed to fit with the mini wings ), rear bumper uses the outer parts of the uno bumper cant remember what the centre section is from, front bumper outers are from a 3 series and the centre section is from an eg civic turned upside down, bonnet scoop is from a isuzu trooper, large indicators in the bumper are from an optare bus haha, custom sills and custom rear taligate. i think at last count there was about 12 different vehicles in it All the work was done in house at work by myself and 4 other blokes. i lost my external hardrive at some stage which had most of the decent photos on it so ive only got some small shitty ones off my old phone but ill whack 'em on so you can get the general idea ;) so that about covers it i think haha. i said to my boss throughout the project that it needed black rims but he didnt think so, untill a few weeks ago when he tried mine on. needless to say im now rocking the white rims and hes got the black ones. i think they really finish it off though! isnt quite road legal yet as it has to go for an iva test due to the fact it was a monocoque and weve cut it. the only thing thats held us back from getting this done is windscreen wipers!! because weve had to do a split screen at the front due to the increased width we couldnt find any wipers/motor/mechanism that would be suitable and fit in somewhere. we have just managed to get some wipers fitted last week after much hassle and swearing etc. unfortunately our first attempt to have them top mounted from the roof didnt work out so weve now got two holes to fill in and get the paint sorted again lol. i fitted a washer bottle in the rear next to the rad yesterday and pumbed and wired that in to the original controls on the column so we now have working wipers and washers. so hopefully within the next few months it should go for its iva test and then it can finally be on the road (legally anyway ) any comments are welcome. i know its not to everyones taste but its something you will never see another one of and thats a win for me ;) . Dan.

need to replace one of my wishbones on my n/a, just wondering if glanza ones would fit (are they the same)? any help would be appreciated Dan.
-
saw it coming out of tescos at lunch time. looked pretty standard, speedlines, tte spoiler and exhaust. bloke was wearing a dappy hat Dan.
-
thanks for the comments i agree sparky it did look better with the black rims, but im growing to like the white ones. and i got a good deal on the swap so not too fussed. not too many plans for it atm as im skint but think im gunna raise the bonnet and get a custom s/s sexhaust at some stage. oh and ive got some purple rim tape to put on, i bought it ages ago but couldnt put it on my old wheels as they had "team dynamcis motorsport" round the outer lip. on the look out for a rolla mani aswell if anyone knows one for sale? Dan.

never disputed that mate Dan.

just had one of these in at work this week, was silver on an 05 plate. only done just over 60k, was suprised at how pokey it was being that it was the first time i had driven one. but an absolute MARE to work on. both back back boxes were rusted through, one hanger had snapped off one side and the rear breaks seem to be designed by stevie wonder. wouldnt bother with one over a glanza personally! Dan.

UPDATE: basically ive got new wheels. if you look in the first post in the first picture ive swapped wheels off that mini. when we did that mini project at work about 6 months ago (mini pickup body lengthened and widened on-top of a beastly fiat uno turbo, thread to come about that!) i told my boss that it needed black wheels since our general colour scheme at work is black and orange. he didnt agree and kept the white wheels. today however he said "i reckon the pickup would look good with black wheels, why dont you put yours on so i can have a look". so i swapped the wheels over, and instantly he fell in love with them and said he WAS going to have them. i do like the white ones but prefer the black ones so i wasnt so keen. anyway, long story short. ive ended up with the white ones with 4 brand new tyres (my black ones were all fairly worn having recently swapped rears to front), hes also paid for my 2 new driveshafts ive just had and bought me a dominos for lunch and also paid £30 for me to go to an event this weekend with drinks on top! ;) anyway, im rambling ill let the pictures do the talking just to add, the pickup looks sooo much more of a beast now. And ive got another 1/2 inch lower FTW! Dan.

Been a while so thought i would update with a few little bits ive done, nothing major! firstly it was annoying not having a rev gauge and after reading up abit about fitting paseo or glanza dials, it seemed a right mishwarrn! so decided to just get a digital tacho and save the hassle. Found it on fleebay and with the mount was only about 20 quid. really easy to wire in and works a treat will clean up the wiring when i can be arsed. next, i was given two induction cones by a mate for free. they were red originally and pretty scratched etc so i wasnt planning on doing anything with them. but then a bloke i know who is a painter and works a few units down from me asked if he could buy one off me so i offered him it for free if he could paint the other. he agreed so i chose a purpley blue flip colour (as i want to do a few purple accents on the car). i then found some rubber hose which had a wire coil in it to avoid kinks and routed it to the airfilter, attached with cable ties in various places (lightweight ftw!) and an old transit van exhaust heat shield adapted to fit round the pipe where it goes past the fanimold. cut down an old airbox pipe at work off some french shed that was going to the scrappy's to attach the cone to the pipe as it was exactly the same size and couldnt stretch due to wire coil. i know it all sounds a bit bodge but end result is a tasty little FREE mod other than that just a few choice stickers cocked up the speedbumps one which im abit gutted about but from a distance it just looks like white outline round the writing oh and finally got a white tyre marking pen and did my tyres, i think they dogs danglies with the writing in white! thats all for now folks. all comments welcome Dan.

enzo, if you're out there pal. let me know if you can sort driveshafts. Dan.

could get one from a scrappy but would rather new ones, for peace of mind rather than anything. im guessing idrees would would only be able to sort second hand? Dan.
