  1. I am about to purchase a Apexi SAFC II and was wondering if I deffinitly need a FCD (most likely a HKS one), to run correctly and not hit Fuel cut?

Some people say no and others say yeh so before i buy a FCD do i really need it?

Is there also anybody running a Apexi SAFC II with or without FCD???

  2. I need a new clutch and seen an Exedy oraganic can handle up to 250bhp which seems just right as i need it to handle about 190bhp :) . Found a shop on ebay selling these clutch kits for £114.99 but this seems so cheap as they are well over £200 everywhere else i have looked!

Has anybody got one of these clutches and can tell me their experiences with them?

Has anybody bought this and can say it is defo a full kit etc?

    Cheers ;)

  4. good man there was a point when i thought id never get a decent quote but tbh at 19 i was getting laughed at down the phone trying to insure turbod starlets etc age and location plays a big part, good luck, hopefully see you soon for anothe starlet outing lol :p

i'm 19 2 yrs no claims and its £870 a yr fully comp

  5. i printed out ther modification policy and they do , have to declare anything aftermarket, said the intercooler ment i was doing hidden mods to bring up the boost and make it faster? i just said i wanted it for the looks lol

Yeh they always going to say that lol. yeh i spose i should but how much is that gonna cost lol?

how much u paying with them and have you got any mods declared?

  6. not necessarily... the air doesn't pass back through the turbo as such but kinda gets chopped in the blades then when your back on throttle you already have pressure in the intake.

there was a comparison somewhere but given the situation on a drag strip (blocked dv) and Vent to atmosphere dv (VTA) there was a noticeable increase in gear change time and response from the car with no dv. so it can aid spool, yes you may slow the comp blade momentarily but the increased pressure when back on throttle over comes that minor slowed rotation.

damage will only occur on older style turbos's with not so great cartridge bearings... which as it happens the ct9 falls into but you run such a low boost compared to say 1.7bar in my Subaru or 2bar from a garrett gt30 that there is little damage to be caused with a little comp stall ;)

Yeh i spose with the low boost running its not gonna make any difference but thanks for the advice. Gonna stick with my dv as i paid over 200 quid for it lol ^_^

  7. just to add... stalling up the compressor wheel doesn't make the wheel go the other way. the air simply gets pushed back towards the turbo, the pressure hits the comp blades and chops the air giving that distinct 'flutter' noise.

yes over a prolong period of time, say years it might effect the life of the turbo but there so cheap whats it matter if it poops a seal or bearing lol ^_^

I had no bov on mine for about a year... if i could i would have no bov on my subaru ;)

Oh rite i was unaware of that ^_^

correct me if i am wrong though but not dumping the air and passing it back through the turbo gives you more turbo lag when you go to boost again???

  8. Yeah i think it can damage the turbo but not sure, my mate hav the d.v blocked up and had an external wastegate, sounded absolutely mint and had it like that for like 5-6month on a TD04 and was fine, some say it does damage the turbo but my mates was fine ;)

Yeh theres big argument but frm where i c it the turbo is spinning one way and you are trying to put the pressure back through it the other way when you dump so must fuck the blades, bearings etc. This is why i would personally block it up and still chatters at low revs anyway ^_^
