  1. I had trouble selling the car with the additional parts on so i have restored it back to pretty much standard. The only part that i have yet to find is a standard exhaust. Currently the car has the tte spoiler (too much of a pain to remove), white powdercoated toyota 13" alloys and 40mm lowering springs.

  2. So far the car has pretty much gone back to standard. Will be posting up the exhaust and the wheels seperately when i get a chance to give them a clean and take some photos!

  3. I'm converting my car back to standard as i'm planning to sell it next month, so need a standard exhaust put back on the car. Preferably i would like one with no holes and not blowing but i have access to a welder so can fix anything that isn't too major.

  4. Would anybody consider buying the part seperately? I'm thinking of getting an exhaust from the scrappy, putting the original wheels back on and selling the car for £500-600.

Will polish the stainless steel exhaust and advertise it for £300?

Will consider selling the wheels in great condition, with good tires all round (5-6mm toyo proxies on the front) for £350 ONO?

  5. Try doubling that again and a little more ;) The exhaust is in great condition! Will consider taking it off, polishing it up and taking some photos when i go home at the end of next month!

  6. There's a tiny patch of rust from a scratch on the drivers door sill but apart from that it the body is completely rust free! No paint bubbling, just scratched in places and some lacquer peel!

  7. I'd be more than happy to sell the car as it is for exactly £1000 in cash. Might even give away the ep82 rear axle for free with it!

Cheers for the free bumps though guys ;)

  8. I'm open to any sensible offers, I will consider them all. Currently I am not overly keen on selling the car, I just haven't had much use for it recently and it would be helpful to free up the money. I would take £1000 as a minimum!

  9. Haha I would love to keep it and work on it again over the summer. But times are hard and i currently haven't got a job, running it using my student loan isn't possible anymore :/

    Dan.

  10. I don't think it's a problem with the discs and the pads at all. The mot fault is "front brake juddering severely" and they said this would be due to a warped disc, requiring new discs and pads. I didn't truely believe him seeing as i've not had a problem under braking and the brakes have minimal wear.

Only thing was that one of the calipers was fairly stiff when i tried to push it back in, more than likely due to moisture getting in through a slight tear in the rubber seal. But i've had a play with it, copper greased it a bit and it seems fine.

Cheers for the comments, will more than likely upgrade the brakes if i decide to keep it!

  11. From what i've read before, front brakes are not a standard size accross all the variations of the starlet. I need to replace both the front discs and pads on my sportif but i'm currently struggling to find anything cheap and that i know will fit.

I know that the discs on my car are currently 229mm, non abs, but it's been hard to find similar discs. Do the glanza discs that are slightly bigger fit without much additional hassle?

I've found these which seem to be a good deal, my main priority is getting my car through it's mot re-test next week.

    Cheers, Dan

  12. Taking it back home where i had it mot'd last year wasn't a viable option. I needed the car mot'd asap so I could sell it and really didn't expect them to flag up such a stupid thing.

Ideally i just need a temporary fix to get it through a re-test at the same plae next week.

    Cheers, Dan.

  13. I've been trying to sell my car for the past two weeks and now realised it would not be easy with the MOT renewal due next month So I booked my car in for an mot down the road as it looked like a pretty decent garage.

Aside from front brake wear and a leaky shock (These i should easily be able to repair, just general wear) the other failure was down to the examiner deaming my exhaust to be excessively loud. This was the last thing I expected them to say, as the car had pasted it's mot last year with the current system on. I know there is no actual test or limit for noise, it's just at the examiners discretion.

It is going to be tough for me get the required work completed for a partial re-test within 10 days, I haven't got a clue what I can do about the exhaust problem. I have already paid £54.99 for the test and ideally would like not to pay out for another mot.

If anyone has had this problem before and found a solution, I would really appreciate your advice on the situation.

    Cheers, Dan.

  14. My car failed it's MOT today over a couple of trival things. I need a nearside rear shock for an EP91 in decent condition as mine has a serious fluid leak.

Also the test centre decided at their discretion that my exhaust system (which has past an mot before) is "clearly in excess". I need to either find a way of temporarily silencing my exhaust or putting on a standard exhaust system just for the mot.

    Cheers, guys!

  15. Year: 1998
    Model: EP91 Toyota Starlet Sportif
    Tax: 31st March 2013
    MOT: 9th April 2014
    Mileage: 75,000

    Location: Bristol, West England

    Description:

I can no longer afford to run my car and I could do with freeing up some money for the remainder of my University year and the coming summer. I have owned the car for just over two years now and it has served me well as a first car. It has always been reliable, getting me to college and University every day without a problem.

Mechanically the car is perfect and has never missed a beat. The only repair work that I have had to carry to keep it running was to replace two wheel bearings, replace the backbox (due to corrosion) and recondition the front callipers because of a brake imbalance.

The paint work on the car is the only thing that I have never been terribly happy about. There are a few small areas where the top coat has been scuffed and patches where the lacquer has lifted.

The car was fitted with a Toad Alarm A50 when the car was originally bought. Does not have immobiliser or central locking but makes a hell of a noise when the alarm goes off!

    Modifications

JVC stereo – CD player, auxiliary in and USB port

Uprated Front Speakers – 3 way alpines if I remember correctly

OEM speaker parcel shelf uprated Fli speakers.

    Blitz air filter

Custom Powerflow Exhaust – Custom cat back stainless steel exhaust system fitted around a year and an half ago. I think the cat to backbox pipe is 1.75” or 2” with a 2.5” slanted tip. This is in great condition and cost me an absolute fortune!

Spax lowering springs that have brought the car down by about 40mm all round.

Glanza rear bumper – Sprayed red to match the car but now faded. Ideally could do with respraying.

TTE spoiler – In very good condition and respray in red is near perfect.

Speedline alloys – Recently been fully refurbished in anthracite. The embossed Speedline logo writing on all wheels have been finely painted red. All wheels are in good condition with minimal scuffs and marks due to the winter weather. Could do with another coat of heavy duty lacquer.

2 x Toyo Proxies on the front and 2 x Champiro’s on the rear. All tyres have at least 5mm tread left.

    Price: £1200 ONO
