Well can't get the bugger fitted! 3 full days trying and stripping more bits off to give more manoeuvrability! Just borrowed a hoist but still no joy!

The threads were loose and it unscrewed easy! But the parts A & B are still solid, can't even move with stillies and molegrips!
Left soaking overnight. If still stuck will need to remove from car and get in the vise.

B turns separate to A. That's the bit that unscrews. Slide pliers are your friend.
Or you Could always undo the bolt beside it and pull the whole speedo drive out together the you can get at it better.

Well I've started doing it myself on the drive.
Spend all day clearing air box/battery/clutch cylinder and linkages out the way and removing the drive shaft. Couldn't split the bottom ball joint and couldn't remove the three bolts on the control arm. In the end I unbolted the strut and steering joint and the shaft levered out the gearbox easily with a tyre lever. Took the hub nut off to removed the shaft totally.
Stopped when it started hailing.
Got a new clutch for it too.
Gearbox should be here Tuesday.
