  2. cheers also, does anyone know where i can get rear ep82 pads and discs easily???? i cant find any. plenty of front ones, no back ones cheers
  3. I am going to do an oil change on my EP82 quite soon and want to try this stuff out.... popped to halfords and there is Castrol Edge 5W40 and Castrol Edge Sport 0W40. Whats the diff (the back of the bottles doesnt help)??? Or does anyone think that another oil would be better in some way??? Also, does anyone know somewhere (online preferably, or in cambridge area) where i can get the oil for a reasonable price instead of £43 for 4 litres Cheers
  4. Hi, Can anyone tell me if its possible to get 2nd hand calipers off something like an MR2 (or celica, avensis or corolla sport, or any other car really) and get them to fit onto the starlet (either straight into the carriers, or replacing the carriers too)? Basically, I would like bigger brakes and was thinking that it may be possible to fit bigger brakes from another car without spending a huge amount of money??? Probably completely wrong but still......... cheers
  5. The mechanic basically used a tube and a half empty bottle of brake fluid, kept pressing the brake pedal to force any air out. starting with the ones furthest away from the brake reservoir. And he kept doing it until there were no more air bubbles. So should i just try replacing the cylinder, or is there anything left to try???
  6. Hi, yes the brake system has been bled - it wouldnt bleed the normal way (could pump the brake pedal for hours without any fluid coming out at all, and yes it was done properly) so had to be vaccuum bled. The calipers have been thoroughly cleaned and copper grease used where appropriate. And its all 4 brakes that are sticking, although the front left is by far the worst. I've already done: braided brake hoses new discs and pads all round bled brake system cleaned up calipers Anything else I can try before replacing the master cylinder?
  7. The mechanic told me that an uprated one would be cheaper than the price i'd have to pay toyota for a standard one. Apparently the master brake cylinder isnt releasing the pressure as it should be, which causes the pads to rub lightly until the discs get hotter and hotter until the brakes are fully on when i have to stop and wait 20 mins for them to cool down! It has just got through a set of drilled and grooved discs and racing pads in a month and a half with normal braking!!! Who is Jay and will he be able to make an uprated cylinder or get a standard one for a decent price? Any help woul
  8. Hi, My ep82s brakes have been playing up for a while and apparently it is the master brake cylinder that is causing the problem. The mechanic suggested I look in the back of Max Power for any brake specialists that can build an uprated master brake cylinder, so upon buying it i discover 0 brake specialists in the magazine, so does anyone know where I may be able to get an uprated one? (or failing that a standard one that can actually do the job!) Cheers
  9. Hi, Does anybody know how to remove the panels next to where the rear passengers fit in an EP82? I want to try fitting speakers into the panels.. There dont seem to be any screw holes, and it seems to wrap around just before the front doors so I dont want to just pull it off else I'll probably break someting. Cheers
  10. i was thinking of this gauge pod: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Pro...p;pcode=GLOGM1L and either these gauges or these ones what do you think
  11. or is this worth considering for £350 delivered? http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3569
  12. Hi, Im thinking of getting a 3-gauge pillar-mount pod and some gauges, but not sure what to go for... as i understand it, air/fuel gauges and vacuum gauges are just pointless flashing lights... since oil temperature/pressure is so important in a turbo car, i was thinking of seperate analog gauges - but should i go for mechanical or electrical? and which would be easier to fit? I was also thinking of a proper boost gauge which will help me tune the HKS actuator when I get it anyone any suggestions? thnx
  13. I cant find road runner on the forum or ebay....... how can i contact him and how much should i be lookin 2 pay?
  14. Hi, I want to get a FMIC but not sure what to go for.... I've seen a forced intercooler (which ive never heard of), an intercooler that doesnt say who made it (but looks a lot like the forced intercooler) and a blitz one Un-named: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160072485956 (£343 inc P&P) Forced: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=180072775364 (£415 inc P&P) Blitz LM: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=270016618132 (£530 inc P&P) I'm guessing the Blitz one is shit-hot, but how do the others compare? (i plan to be
  15. the handling is pretty good - its on a set of KYB coilovers, and i've ordered EBC discs and pads to make it stop. It was converted to MPH when it was imported into the country a couple of months ago. Where can I get a blitz ecu? (i cant find any on the blitz website)
  16. cheers mate cars standard except for a hks mushroom airfilter, a blitz BOV and a blitz turbo timer - although i think it's been derestricted because i did this: even though it should be limited to 112mph? and dave is selling these manifolds on ebay - do you think i should get that? ive just had a look on the fensport site and there is a 'Uprated Actuator - complete kit' for £75+vat - that a reasonable price? they also have a HKS Fuel Cut Defencer for £95 - should i get that so I can turn the boost higher, or just wait until i can afford a remap/custom ecu? lastly, what is
  17. hi all i'd like to get the power up on my ep82 to around 160+ and i've got around a grand to play with. i've looked around on the site but still am not sure what to do exactly... firstly, i've heard that the starlet comes with a washer in the manifold and around the fuel filter which can be removed for more power - is this true? also i am thinking of getting a manifold (if i cant derestrict the standard one) & full straight-thru exhaust from the turbo back, followed by a remap (or custom ecu or piggyback chip), but would i be better off with any of the following: fast-road cams boost c
  18. cheers. i just wasnt sure if the turbod engines used a different oil filter
  19. hi, can you tell me if this would fit an ep82 turbo? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-Starlet-EP82-...1QQcmdZViewItem thanks
  20. Cheers, So all i need to do is put on new calipers and it will stop the problem?
  21. i've ordered new discs and pads because this problem has destroyed the old discs and pads..... they were fine before that. Brake fluid level is fine. How do i rebuild calipers and would I be better off just getting new calipers?
  22. Hi, When my ep82 front brakes get warm, they start to rub - the hotter they get the more they rub. They got red hot earlier and the car wouldnt move at all until about 30 mins later when they had cooled enough. Anyone got any ideas why they are doing this and what i need to do to fix it? Thanks
  23. what the fuck? i dont drive it like a knob end, i aint the one whos been banned bought the rotas today n fitted them - no spinning at all in 2nd or 3rd, and only 1st on high boost! sorted! n the car looks awesum now with them on! all i need now is some tints 2 get it looking sweet! i'll post some pics up in a couple of days cheers guys p.s. whats the best grade oil to put in a gt turbo? i cant read the japanese manual so have no idea! ;) my focus runs on 5W30 but no idea what this runs on also, does it need to be mineral, semi-synthetic or synthetic Cheers
  24. Hi, I'm new to the forums and have just bought a 1995 GT Turbo today with standard 14" steelies and budget tyres on. But I can't get any traction in 1st, 2nd or 3rd (it is wet at the moment though). Can anyone suggest what I can do to improve traction (without sticking on some massive wheels which would slow the car down)??? It is already lowered with stiff coilovers (i guess that should improve traction? ) I've been offered sum 15" ultra lightweight ROTA Slipstream wheels with low profile Yokohoma tyres for £200 - would these help the car to get traction? Thanks
