Lube gbox cables try and get maybe slightly longer cables bent bracket where the gbox cable is attached with the metal plate slot or bent plate worn bush.the plate can be pulled with pliers or a tong.that's a nice line for the females I need your tongs my gearstick is crunchy or my gears are grindy.hey tongs my 2nd gear is not engadging

Check your clutch bolts loose or missing and cracked mounts,sometimes the mounts okay can be a crack on where mounts bolt onto engine is cracked,I've cracked it and fixed twice taken to engineer,could be extra meat on new clutch or un evenly torqued bolts between gbox engine or even clutch plates,release bearing!l

  3. No adjustment,lube your cables and grease/lube shifter,wd40 moly spray,you can cut the cable cover a small bit spray.seal it with any adhesive and rubber.check the tube.I had the same issue SOmE times can be cut worn bush not keeping the cable straight just have a look lube the ends can work too.

  4. Right my ecu part number is 89661-10160 for 4efe 26p for manual.i need help figuring the secondary o2 sensor,im not very competent in electrics,wiring.actually as since I saw the wiring did not make any sense.
    I just got done repairing knock sensor cleaning intake iacv,butterfly intake(fixed ecl),replaced the pcv valve,did wonders in smoothness response ,especially the pcv.she is still thirsty high fuel consumption.so started digging around and found my secondary o2 sensor not plugged in and just stuff making no sense when the opened the center console the gearbox shifter cover.the wiring is all messed up.
    I've posted some pics I'm just baffled.I need that baby hooked up any assist appreciated.pinouts to ecu or better still splice insert the wires from point a to b solder etc.
    Here are pics hope helps the next guy in my position with just wires making no sense.some say its pointless to have it plugged no harm but my research says it does have an effect on some cars and once you guys assist I'll give you feedback if it does affect efficiency.

    okay the 2pin connector is for o2 sensor,what is the 6pin connector for?.where does the 2 pin for o2 go?

  5. So recently as I hit small bumps and pot holes there is a knocking sound coming from the front drivers side and at high speeds like on the motor way my steering wheel vibrates intermittently. After it started knocking I have laid under my car and noticed that my drive shaft has play in it and replicated the knocking sound I hear when going over bumps and pot holes. Also boot attached to the back of the wheel is covered in grease and appears to be leaking. Just wondering if any of you guys could help me figure out exactly what it is so I can get it fixed asap. This is on an na ep91. I'm assuming it's the cv joint but would love a second opinion. Any help is appreciated massively :)

    alignment went off you hit potholes(tie rods checkem too for wear)/if your boot rubber split and water entered /even after replacing sometimes the driveshafts cool but will get noise the annoying clacking on full steering turn slow speed/but goes when you go above 10mph.check your bearings too while you at it

All im saying before you do anything know limits of your car and increase skill,skill is also worn tyres completely worn pads and a wet road.especially mud where now you will learn about momentum and throttle control finesse or several crashes cursing and crying my baby ,although the later never happened because I love my baby and there's a method to my madness.left or no left foot braking skills and practise.

Guys my under steer is not bad I'm.but I'm not excited ,I was trying to be humble and not say I'm a natural plus I wanted to share knowledge.so give and receive universal law.hey Collins go yo my gearbox thread and tell me what gearbox I have !I've posted pics.plus I'm addicted to corners I can't help it i go mad.I know I need an intervention guys.but all I'm saying yeah the understeer is a design safety so you can learn throttle control on limit .but like I said with illegal no thread stock skinny 165/70/13 I'm telling you skills went off the scale and you put a crash wall inches from the side mirror and then get under over steer everything ,it gives you the reactions for sure.mad skills ,but bad for pocket and especially if small things make you sleepless on your car like small leaks and small stuff.been but I'm hey handle and they handle for sure.check the video.I'm actually the calmest on the limit.basically after no riding 2 years you drive it like a motorcycle.all I'm saying before you add this mod and that mod add reactions skills and muscle memory.it takes skills beating faster cars with your stocky n/a starlet especially in its element of mediumish traffic and tight bends and just patience of changing lanes .that's all who said I'm excited .I need no tips on driving only mechanicals.

This is what worked for me guys hard setup upfront and softer at the rear.okay had stiffer springs allround,then swapped rear for softer springs ,it solved the understeer,i actually swapped the rear were too hard on my back especially country roads(on top what the guy told me were original springs for rear new,they werent were mushy soft kind of like a slinky toy,but there was a flipside).I've had the stock tyre sizes and wider tyres,worked on both,but again many factors involved you do get slight(minute) understeer but its learning the feel of the car,like camber of road,bumpy road,uphill down hill,muddy wet, weight shift ,too much power going in or how quick you turn in(basically managing weight shift),grip of tyre (I've run the stock yokos bald maximum attack foot down,no thread left ,thats when i got understeer),but you dont get the scary understeer these things have,there is a tendency of lift off oversteer if you aggressive,but basically i manage subconsciously.its predictable,even with no thread left on certain tyres which is how i wanted to get my skills and reactions up,a little unpredictability.


    Without getting too technical ,you can liftoff ,turn in turn out,left foot slightly,although liftoff and turning the steering out and back in the turn.you know you have to be one with the car,its like riding a bike you turn perfectly,then when you learn about turning countersteering you actually turn left to lean right at speeds above 15mph on a bike(you learn this in emergency drills)but you do it instinctively,when you do it consciously it gets weird at first.


    What i am saying is basically findout the limits of your baby at different scenarios or situations so will help your skills.


    its all about the corners .check this out ,and this starlet is beating a gtr ,and does it on corners not possible if it was understeering.


    I had to share my 2cents of limited experience and knowledge,would love to hear all your idears in improving handling especially UNDERSTEER.

  9. Only if aftermarket diff in a normal casing.

    Quaifes wont behave like that they only become LSD when you put power through them.

    The OEM LSD doesnt do that for same reason, but you can tell them from the difference in casing.

  10. my lsd is simple rev the engine on a dry road dump the clutch its goes like this wheelspin lsd bite traction small wheelspin bite traction then lock and unlock lock and unlock it literally digs in or bites the road .what im describing is the bitting and no clutch burning smell if you did not have lsd you would be smelling the clutch and just wheelspin and not moving forward much,with lsd its wheelspin then locks you move forward unlocks locks you get traction and move forward.(i kniow),also when you scandinavian on a dry dust road handbrake counter steer it like the fronts really glued down,i had a normal c140 and then got an unknown gearbox which has lsd,infact go to my thread and see the pics if your gearbox looks like mine its lsd.now if you need some tips to overcome understeer on these starlets please do let me know.you will be oversteer happy.infact if you go to me thread and identify my gearbox il let you in solving the understeer plague.bro i dont care about straight line speed but the corners,thats where they shine ,and i practiced with completely worn tyres to make things interesting,cause my baby got too predictable liftoff oversteer just gave me suprises when i didnt want the oversteer.but if you dont know what you doing you will crash terribly they are light.

    lo and behold the gearbox that gotaway from toyota area 51.it clearly says ''3''. :yahoo: unless i i got a prototype gearbox woo.but im hoping its just a known gearbox make it easier getting parts i need for her.

  12. Gearing does seem like 5 speed ratios. Have you tried shifting into where 5th would be? I know when we fit 6 speeds to our cars we have to notch the shifter mechanism to allow for the extra movement over to reverse maybe its the same case with yours and 5th?

    Im actually surprised you had a 4 speed in an ep91 i didnt even know they did them.

    yeah i tried ,im suspecting its an ep71 gearbox or the mr2 5speed and check the mechanism,is there no place the gearbox model is indicated ?

  13. hi guys,i had a crash with my stock ep91 and my gearbox was damaged c140 4spd(long ratio and was hitting the limiter at 1st=60km/h 2nd=100km/h,3rd=140 4=done 170 assuming its 180/km/h) ,after it was replaced by the garage i noticed the replacement 4spd gearbox is short ratio and has an lsd?damn the lsd is sweet,how do you identify the gearbox where is the model indicated.I&#39;ve been searching the net theres no info on this gearbox.could it be a 5spd , i dont know?do the linkages matter,is there a difference in the linkages /gear selector ?they just bolted it on.any assist will be appreciated.its kind a short ratio 1st=40 ishkm/h 2nd=80km/h 3rd=120km/h 4=never gone above 140km/h cause the ratios are short its just screaming never bothered going past that.

    The car was sluggish and had a flat in midrange,flat spot which used to go away at higher revs,just before the misfire started,thought was maybe air cleaner or fuel filter,then bam bam bam bam misfire I kid you not,its sounding like a wrx sti with a pipe,i have a muffler on.guys were thinking I have a Subaru boxer underneath the hood hahahahaha.(if I had the money I would probably swap out wrx engine and running gear,4wd.since I don't need advice asap its consuming like a wrx too,burning fuel heck like a v12 even.)

    I checked spark plugs,leads (even replaced)distributor,changed rotor and condenser and cap.swapped the injectors ,I'm suspecting a worn intake valve seat allowing a very rich mixture to ignite?

    What do you guys think I don't have readings for the ohm resistance for my injectors did it by swapping them.I did get the correct ohm resistance for primary and secondary coil.

    I'm really also swaying yo the side of mechanical,because she needed an overhaul rings(as you know on these engines and burning oil)

    So guessing the overhaul has caught up to me?

    Any idears people?I'll run the engine diagnostic tommorow ,as I know I have a loose exhaust temp sensor that causes it to go on.but any idears its just cylinder number one.I need it up and running till I save up for overhaul in like a months time?

    A while back I also installee a Chinese battery ,since then that battery ,has given me issues ?

    Could it be battery ?

    Bdway its drinking fuel like a v12 and the misfire (loss of power)when its hot but gains power and normal starlet sound at higher revs (not 100% power but like 70%ish of normal power.I think I have described every thing.

    These starlets are reliable never done this too me before my reliable everyday survival car.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    I know a little about cars and mechanics not a complete ignorant person,but not too much too because I wouldn't be asking.

    I'm driving it as necessary but man if v12 s consume that much fuel,I'm not going to hobby read about v12s anymore,I guess if you have the petrol bug,your book club meeting your the most interesting fellow with hot chicks talking about their silly novels.
