I would do it in the bath as I've seen plenty of people doing it lol or in the kitchen sink for small bits, if looks straight forward plus its lacquered after so lasts as long as paint

Its a shame bud i would put in a dispute with paypal , you get your money back and he can claim off the courier, some people tend to have alot of trouble with couriers and others not =/
