I've checked vac lines and can't see anything obvious

Might be your idle control valve or tps mate

Vac leaks can be tricky to find. Even pin holes in vac lines can cause hunting.

Other things to check are inlet and throttle body gaskets.

Hairline cracks in the inlet cause hunting too but its unlikely the issue.

Ive heard of people doing a ghetto smoke test with an e-cig before which would point you in the right direction
