I guess this is another term for crank walk?



the crank moves left/right basically along it's length. the thrust washers are there to prevent it happening. Basically it fudges the bottom end. stresses big end and main bearings and journals.



4e/5e's don't seem to suffer from it or not that I've heard of, but Evo engines suffer badly I think. I've never seen an engine with it but I'd take the sump off and check for play along the length of the crank.



I'm sure someone can provide a more technical explanation but that's my understanding of it :S
