Turbo Goose
Year: 1998Model: Toyota Starlet Glanza VTax: N/AMOT: 29 May 2018Mileage: 85,000 on shellDescription: This is the reluctant sale of my Glanza as I am saving for a house and need the money towards a deposit. I purchased the car in March 2014 and traveled down to Kent to pick it up. I was looking for a mint 1998 spec model which had minimal modifications so I could do all the work myself and get it to where I wanted it, I had owned a starlet SR for a couple of years and wanted a boosted starlet. I am an engineer by trade and work for a company that builds gas turbines so have very good mechanical and electrical knowledge and very competent when it comes to cars and all aspects of engineering. I have a bit of OCD when it comes to mechanical sympathy so look after all my cars. The car started life with a standard engine with CT9 turbo, it was boosting around 0.7 bar when purchased and not long after purchasing a JAM ecu, the boost was raised to 1 bar. It was put onto race techs dyno and was fueling a bit off (as the aftermarket Japanese ecus are a bit crude sometimes) so not long after I had a emanage blue ecu fitted. The car made 172 bhp on a turbo that was just about knackered.I then fitted a WEPR kit with a TF035 turbo, the car then made 229.1 bhp on the standard engine. The car was magic for months after this until a vacuum pipe popped off the wastegate, keeping it shut and the turbo wound up to nearly 3 bar!! This bent two conrods and and broke a piston. The next stage was forging! The car was taken off the road for several months and put into my garage where the real build started. I purchased the forged parts including the king bearing sets from america as this saved a couple hundred quid and all the machine work, head rebuild and clearances were carried out by Ian at Cross Customs, East Kirkby near me. These guys are very well known the in drag bike world and build some mega bikes and loved working on the starlet engine. All other parts were purchased included a recon TD04, 430cc injectors, OEM LSD, Celica big brake upgrade and lots of other parts which I'll put in the spec list. At the same time I wanted to change the look of the car to OEM, I purchased uncut bumpers, optional genuine lips and full Recaro interior. The engine was run in properly which included 6 oil and filter changes using Millers running in oil. The boost was slowly introduced throughout the run in process to allow the rings to settle properly. After the engine was ready, it was taken across to Tuning Developments where it made an impressive 280.7 bhp @ 1.4 bar. This is where the car is now and its been running beautifully since. it has had 2 services since being back on the road using Millers CFS 5w40 motorsport oil. The engine is on about 8k miles. There are 4 issues with the car that I'll mention first before I put the spec list up. The first is a top engine ticky noise which I've heard on a few starlets which its always had even before the rebuild, its never affected the performance or running of the car but thought I'd mention it as its always bugged me but never got to the bottom of it. I was going to put a fully rebuilt head on the car to see if it sorts it, this head will be included in the sale but as I say the car runs really nice and makes good power so don't really see it as an issue.Second is the bosch AFR sensor which packed up a couple of months ago, its definitely the sensor as I tried to clean the soot off it when resetting it one day and broke it (silly me)Third is the driver CV joint which has just started to clunk when you reverse and put it in full lockFourth is the drivers side side skirt which has 2 clips broken so just sits off the car (see pics) The bodywork is in extremely good condition for the age and all looks original, there are probably 3 little dings I'd be able to point out. The bonnet has been stood up by previous owner at some point so has marked the corners with a few stone chips. These are all honest observations and anyone who looks at the car comments on it's in excellent, unmolested condition. The paperwork with the car in amazing. It has 2 sleeves full of receipts for parts purchased, every dyno run the car as ever had, all previous MOTs, all original import documents, alarm installation certificates, log book in my name and 2 keys and fobs. Heres a spec list of everything I can think of Engine and gearbox Wiseco 74.5mm pistons, Scat conrods, Athena 1.2mm MLS gasket, King bearings. New genuine stem seals and engine gasket kit along with new timing kit with OEM oil pump and blueprint water pump. Machine work carried out by Cross Customs which included crosshatch rebore, skimmed head, block level checked, notched block, valves lapped, piston rings gapped plus all oil clearances checked.Run in on millers running in oil with 6 oil changes, now on millers cfs 5w40 motorsport oilDenso 430cc injectors (flow tested and cleaned by PK Automotive).Tewiga half sized civic radiator.Rocker cover has AN-8 fittings welded on connected to a toyosport catch can via braided oil lines.Fully polybushed engine mountsOEM LSD gearboxKph mph convertorSard FPR (authenticity questionable)D1 reservoir socksBrand new varta batteryTurbo kit and exhaust WEPR mild steel Evolution kitRecon TD04 (at time of engine build)Braided oil feedRoose oil returnGenuine Tial wastegate with 0.8 bar spring.JPerformance intercooler.5zigen Border 304 exhaust with screamer welded into downpipeElectronics and alarm Autowatch 457 RLI Thatcham 2 alarm with 2 fobsGreddy Emanage blue ECU mapped to 280.7bhp @ 1.4 bar (Mapped on V-Power)Greddy Profec 2 boost controllerUnknown turbo timerInnovate MTX-L wideband (Sensor just packed up)Kenwood head unit with vibe blackair 6x9sPlasma dials in MPHWheels, brakes and suspension Genuine 15 enkei RS wheels with nankang NS2-R front and toyo T1R rears15mm spacers rear and 5mm spacers frontCelica ST165 single pot brakes with astra 1.7 cdti drilled and grooved discsTRD shock absorbers with 40mm springs, new top mounts at time of buildOptional rear strut brace with all plasticsD1 spec wheel nutsUltra racing rear anti roll bar Exterior Standard exterior with original 040 paintFull genuine lip kit fitted to uncut bumpersOEM wind deflectors Interior Full recaro interior in very good conditionFitted matsOriginal jdm flareTim oil pressure gaugeSwoosh boost gaugePrice: £5500Pictures:Contact Details: Please give me a call if interested on 07500057961 Any questions you can post on here Edited August 27, 2017 by Turbo Goose
