Hi there guys need a bit of advice

My partner has a Toyota starlet GT turbo 1992 EP82. Now the starlet has some idle issues so he decided to replace the thermostat.

Now thats become a whole hassle in itself, we got a new thermostat and went to remove the old one, one of the thermostat housing bolts snapped so that was fun getting off, finally managed it and sourced a new bolt. Thought that was sorted. Re fitted the thermostat housing with the new thermostat and refilled with coolant.

Next thing the coolant starts pissing out the thermostat, now my question, does the thermostat housing need any liquid gasket or sealant or an actual gasket? He didn’t see anything on it when he took it off so I just thought I’d jump in here and ask.

Please help! 😂
