Hey,

My brother bought a Blitz BOV for his GT4 awhile back and over easter he came home with his car,so naturally I asked him to take me out for a spin in it...and I noticed that the BOV wasn't working at all! He thought the flutter he was hearing was the BOV dumping (muppet, I know!).

So I initally thought it was siezed; so I took it all apart, cleaned it and greased it with multipurpose grease. It worked fine for 2 days or so then stopped working. Having bought it off someone who said they were running it on a GT4 running 1.2Bar I assumed it could have had a harder spring in it...so I bought a standard spring from Blitz UK...tried that, and nothing! Still didn't dump!!

I then resorted to taking it apart, cleaning it up again, using some multipurpose oil and cutting 3 coils off of the old spring, it now dumps but no where near as loud as it should and not cosistently (i.e. its a bit tempermental - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt)

Anybody have any other ideas? What else can I try?

Cheers.

take the circlip out of the bottom of the bov with some long nose pliers.

then leave it in a jar of diesel for a few days. it should loosten up enough to tap it loose with a hammer.

then take the piston out, give it a good clean and autosol polish the inside of the bov.

re-assemble, job done

Mate! I've had the BOV in pieces numerous times!! Used surgical pliers to get that feckin' circlip out, but anyway, had the brass piston out and cleaned it and the inside of the BOV with WD40 (had lots of grime in there). it didn't seem too siezed in the first place to be honest.

I then replaced the piston and used 3 different types of lube, multipurpose grease, CV grease and then multipurpose lubricant oil...also tried it with no lube, just really well clean, but with the MP grease it worked for a day or two...I noticed that the brass piston has been scored quite badly...£85 down the fuckin' drain, pissing me right off! :) I do have some autoglym metal polish so will give it a go...
