Tommy_G
Well my problem is i cant really spend 300 on a toad alarm or whatever. and i really need one because i dont have an imobiliser etc. So i was looking on egay and the have quite a few on there. saying they do all sorts; remote start, nd all that for around 30-40 quid.my question is would i be able to fit it, i will mention im not bad with electronics but have never fitted an alarm, or similar to a car.CheersTom
Liam_D
I think you are better off letting a pro do it to be honest dude. That way things cant really go wrong.I know you said you can't really afford to spend a few hundred. But a good alarm is a good thing to spend money on.
keirz
i agree that its worth the money to get a good alarm. and im pretty sure you do have an immobiliser on the n/a as its electronicly built into the key i beleive.but a good cat 1 alarm and immobiliser will keep you safe and prob bring your insurance down to so you save in the end. Tommy_G
hmmm, ok well how much do u rekon one will set me back in total?
SpeedFreak
Thats all depends on model and where you purchase it from.I was looking at one for my partner, from www.falcon-security.com and they have some mega alarms. But costs around £300 upwards. Although the good thing with them is you can pay weekly for it, so you dont end up paying too much in one go. Plus interest isnt high either
Sparky
Best off getting a pro to do it mate That way you get a certificate to get you discount on your insurance

Sparky
A good budget alarm is the Toad ai606 (what im getting) can get them fitted for £210 on ebay
Tommy_G
ok £200 would be reasonable.what features does it have, idealy i would like, although ill probaly not get for a low price, remote locking (i already have central), remote start, audio and lights flash/bep when armed, and auto window closing.how much over £200 do you guys rekon this will set me back? o and of course it has to be a insrance approved one
Sparky
Go on Ebay bro they tell you the features and how much extra it is for other stuff i.e £90 for remote start I think
ecksjay
for all that stuff you want you'll need to spend some money. 200quid wont buy you all you want.£200 fitted will buy you a good quality alarm installed by someone who knows what they're doing, and that'll be around £200. You will be able to link that to remote central locking if you already have the motors, will have to ask how much extra it is though by whoever's installing it.The cheap ones on ebay can cause more problems than they're worth, plus you'll need to find someone who understands all the features, may just be a waste of time (and they may charge you more to fit it than it'd cost to buy a decent one in the first place).for a quality one with all the bits you're asking you'll be looking at 500quid usually. most of it is gimicky and pointless though, remote start etc, the gimick wears off quickly and you soon get bored of it. paul w
For piece of mind get a basic cat1 alarm, without being funny it's an N/A that you ain't likely to be keepin the car for years i expect so why waste money on something like that. All my cars have a basic cat1 with no toys and shite to start playing up or bumping the price up unneccesarily.Remote start is a load of shite anyway.
Tommy_G
yer i think you guys are right. all i really want is remote locking and most have that even the very basic ones. best get looking for one then ;)
