SpeedFreak Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Im not clued up on turbos, but my bloke has just brought a new turbo and when he has now took it out of the box to look at it, this is on it:Now, he thinks this is the waste gate? But this doesn't look right to me? Should it be jaggered like this?I wanted advice before going back to the seller. Thanks guys Quote
Glanza_cl Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 i cant tell from the photo what it is supposed to be of, if it is something on the turbo it definitely shouldn't look like that. Quote
briggers Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 that looks like some sort of weird meat grinder. how the hell did that happen. it doesnt look like a waste gate. get a better pic Quote
Asad Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Thats a messed up lump of metal, better pics? diff angles? Quote
SpeedFreak Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 Hang on just getting another angle so u can see it better Quote
paul w Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Not the best of pics really Have you tried taking it off? It looks like it may be a way of stopping shite gettinto the turbo in transit? Quote
briggers Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 yer looks like a waste gate that they have blocked off for an external one but done a shit job. Quote
paul w Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Well i would be wanting my money back on that one, thats a shoddy job at blocking the wastegate to say the least! Quote
Asad Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I think they grinded the hole out n then hammered a block of ?????? in till it was nice n snug... Quote
briggers Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 how did the sale of that item come about. if they didnt say about that i would give it back if you can. if not just make sure there are no metal bits that can come off. Quote
keirz Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 where did that turbo come from? if thats come from a rebuilders that is a terrible job, was it requested to be ran with an external wastegate? Quote
SpeedFreak Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 Yes it was, but it came from a private sale. Brand new. Il email the guy and tell him I am unhappy with the work on it. Quote
Glanza_cl Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 if you requested an external wastegate they should have just welded shut the wastgate flap not slap a massive lump of metal in there to block the hole. Quote
Sparky Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 What a bodge!!!Look at the state of the face thats meant to be fluch with the exhaust!!! Did you have pics of it before you bought it? Quote
SpeedFreak Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 Nope. I've emailed the bloke but as you would expect, he hasnt replied. To be hnest, I dont expect to get a refund anyways. Quote
Sparky Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Silly silly Your bf should of asked for pics before throwing his money away, I wouldnt even bother having a go at the bloke not his fault really Quote
SpeedFreak Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 Well yes it is. He sells many turbos, so puts a picture up of one and then sells of each one he makes. He didnt just have one. Quote
Sparky Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Ahhh fair enough but in all fairness I would of asked for the pics of the one I would be recieving Quote
