Ep91 Posted September 16, 2005 Share Posted September 16, 2005 My cars kinda Deceloping a Tappy sound, i thought it would be the Tappits worn but my friend Scutch0 informs me that Starlets use Shims instead?Could someone explain what is required to change them and how much it costs roughly and also if anyone had had the same problem.Regards, Adam. starletboy Posted September 17, 2005 Share Posted September 17, 2005 to do the shims you need to take the rocker cover off to gain accesss to the cams and then measure the clearence between the cam and the shim itself then get the engine manual and that will list the specified gap between the two if its out you need to thicker shims or thinner depending on the size of the gap. you need to get the engine manual if you are goin to do it yourself that explains how to do it and gives you the specified clearences.as for the cost not sure how much shims are but shouldnt be to bad Quote Link to post Share on other sites
