mart10
Hi lads, you lot seem to know what your talking about, so i'll ask .. My father-in-laws timming belt snapped coming home the other day..... he was doing about 50...Then when he was waiting for me to tow him home he was tring to start it.... its a 1000 cc 12 valve 1991. Are the valves bent ?? i dont want to waste my time fitting a new one if they are.. all answers welcome ..thanks in advance
Dan Evans
i would honestly say, possibly, i would strip the head and have a look at the valves, wont cost you to have a look, and it saves you wasting cash if it is fooked....... aslong as he pulled over straight away it should be ok, but he shouldnt have tried starting it, that could totally have fooked it. ste91
I remember reading somewhere that Toyota fit timing chains to their interference engines and timing belts to their non-interference engines. So you should be ok.
