Miscellaneous questions and answers

Recommended Posts

While poking around my engine bay I've picked up some question, not big enough for their own topics, but bugging me none-the-less

So with Reference to the following diagrams

Q1.jpg

Q2.jpg

A Are these pipes to equalise pressure on the rocker side of the valves to make it easier to open them? and if so why one each side of the throttle body

B Whats this thing coming out of the throttle body? (thermometer?)

C The pipe between the throttle body and the air box, what is it called? (you have no idea how annoying this is,.......)

D What the hell is this for?! It's not connected to anything or has any sensor plugged in as far as I can see, is it some kind of air reservoir?

Also

E Advice on best way to remove oil/grime (also has rust colour marks where the mani bolts to the engine) from my new mani before painting it

Answears on a postcard, to the usual address[/blue Peter]

Thanks in advance and if anybody else has some questions, why not share them! :p
