side exit exhaust

hey i have just had a side exit exhaust my local garage say it wnt pass mot on emissions cus no cat but my last exhaust had no cat but past ok would ther be any difrence??????

alsou is it ok to have one on its not against the law is it its no louder than my last exhaust just need to reasure my self on this any help would be great

So long as it's not pointing towards the curb its legal if you old exhaust passed Mot then that one will bring it up here for it's next Mot we will get it through no prob
