bullet513 Posted October 26, 2010 Share Posted October 26, 2010 i had insurance with admiral a year ago.was rocking a k11 micra at the time, sold it, rang them to cancel but would cost more to cancel than to let it run out.so they now know the car isnt mine any more so i left it to run out so that would b that.that was a good year ago. just got a phone call from debt collectors saying i owe them for £86. the debt has been passed on from admiral.i have had no letters etc as it was all probably sent to my old address.they are going to take me to court as i said i had no idea of this and as far as im aware there is no outstanding balance etc.where do i stand? bullet513 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Share Posted October 26, 2010 i shouldnt have needed to tell them i changed my address as i told them that i didnt own the car anymore and wouldnt need insurance any more. there was no need for them - in theroy - to send me anything through the post. dont know y its taken 6 months after the policy ended to hear this.just a pain in the arse.i dont see why i should pay the £80 something just because they made a mistake. ill go to court over it if i have to. just seem rediculous that admiral (someone who i thought was a good company) would do this... nazzurro19 Posted October 26, 2010 Share Posted October 26, 2010 ask for a recording of you saying that u want to cancel etc its part of the data protection act as its you in the recording so they cant refuse if they do say u will take thid up with the insurance ombardsman i had the same problem i swapped my car policy from my polo to the gt 4 months later i get aressted forno insurance i sorted it with police and rang up insurance they stil had me dwn on the polo so i paid over 400 quid to be insured on something i didnt own plus they wanted money for cancelling the polo even tho i didnt reinsure it this ombardsman guy sorted it out for me and got me refunded Quote Link to post Share on other sites
