Russleh
for my next project i plan on doing things properly by replacing or refurbishing most parts and it will be a project of the next few years so i guess price doesnt matter that much since it will just mean saving for a bit longer. but i cant decide on engine. part of me think 5e because it will be easier to achieve the power goals but whats putting me off is things like the oil pressure issue and the engine not reving as hard as the 4e. then the other way i look at it i think if im spending that much money then it would be a shame if for a little bit extra i could have had more power and boost coming in earlier.need people opinions . the goal really is 300bhp with as little lag as possible to reduce lag so the 5e definatly helps achieve that goal. Idrees
5E for less lag and more power imo.
Jozinobi
If thats what your're after go for a 5E setup with a full EMS that has anti-lag and other goodies.Thats if you are going the whole hog and time to save money isn't an issue.Joz
Russleh
it shall be done. ill just spend a good bit of money making sure its built properly. money i make from sellin all the spare bits i have should get me a 5e bottom end anyways
animal GT
its got to be 4e or no E its much easyier to stay 4e,it wil give you just as big power. like the revs more aswel
Russleh
lol knew that would happen. im gonna have to have a good think about it.one person says 5e and i think right ill do that then someone says 4e and i change again haha
jayep91
5e is so much better to drive off boost then the 4e

scot-ish
i would say 4eive got over 300bhp with 4e, and off boost my car drives great, im TD05 full boost by 4800 rpm, and ive no cams or that fitted yet, sure if i keep it, i will bring that down a bit.oh, and i just done a 210 mile trip on a tank of fuel, and the gt only holds £34 or summit. Sparky
Thats really good mpg for the mods ^^^
Bean
thats as hes never on boost waiting for the td05 to spool up!! lol thats really good on juice though. my teg gives me around 270 miles from about £
Russleh
ah alot of thinking will have to be done. theres plently i can buy till i decide anyways. ideally id want boost before that. id like to stay 4e but it just annoys me theres the 5e option there .think a hybrid td04 could reach near 300 bhp? scot-ish
yup easy, depends on the spec of the Hybrid, but the PP boys are selling on just now that would make over 300, think they specced it an had it made.4800 is 1.7 bar remeber, thats really good, and between gears there isny much lag, if any at all, as i dont drop that far out of the revs.only downside, is my car will be in the garage now till the winter is over, as its pretty useless in any sort of weather.the fuel thing, i was still on booats, the first 50 miles of my run, and the last 50 where on a A road, so there was some overtaking involved aswell, i couldnt beleive the MPG when i got it. espeicially since im running 550cc injectors, must just have been really well mapped. Spuddy
If your only after 300hp then if it was me I'd stay 4E, if you want minimal lag then yes the 5E will help ya out a bit. The 5E can rev just as well as the 4E but in each case you will need her built to suit it, pushing mine on up to 9000-9500rpm for 2011 to suit the new setup but you'll not want to be doing that on an everyday car. Russleh
it wont be an every day car anyway. and will also be gettin covered up for winter so no worries about that. i love the way that it " only 300 " now lol bet it wasnt like that at the start. think ill stay 4e then as it doesnt sound too bad for what i want. ill seal the decision when i get some block and crank work done.
