Rhys249 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Hi guys, just wondering if theres any way to brace a manifold to stop it from cracking ???i've recently bought one off here just to use till i save up for a zisco after the new year.i'm not sure what make it is so i thought i'd best find out if theres any way of making it a bit stronger just incase, any info or pics would be a masive help.Cheers Quote
jezza Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 The most common method is to weld a plate between the exhaust and turbo flanges. Quick and simple to do... If you know a welder! Quote

If you know a welder!ah i see, could weld it myself but i havent done any welding for years lolI was thinking maybe weld a plate from the front of the turbo flange and weld it to the 2 front runners ? ? ?I dont know allot about welding or metal propertys ect, but would adding an additional weld over the existing ones do any harm ? Omar Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 This is the method I will be using this weekend for if everything goes according to plan. I hope this helps. Quote
Carl. Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 That's bracing the turbo to stop it putting pressure on the oil feed. Quote
Idrees Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 That's bracing the turbo to stop it putting pressure on the oil feed.It also takes weight off the manifold hence it could help to prevent it from cracking ;) Quote
Carl. Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 But at the same time stopping the turbo pulling down on the mani, but a braced decat/standard cat does this anyway Quote
nastyrash 2003 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 yep som of the manis are very thin so to weld direct to the runers would be a bad idea just making more weak lines. so this does make more sence. Quote
