Misterdan88
Just wondering how much does it cost to get a wideband fitted? And can a normal garage do this or would i have to go to some kind of specialist? Ive got 1 sitting here which ive had for months i think its time i get it sorted lol. Also its a Innovate LC-1 kit!ta
Sparky
Same kit as il be getting Pretty easy to fit I would imagine mate, gonna do mine myself.Just need to get my exhaust made and the bung welded in there first
Misterdan88
Yeah i got to get the bung welded too so was going to get it all sorted at the same time.Hopefully some 1 off here who has fitted 1 before is local to me so might be able to get it sorted that way
Sparky
Its pretty simple to install from what I am aware.Screw the sensor into the exhaust run the wires to the cabin and the gauge, plug the gauge into your ECU (I have EMU so it will plug straight in there) and just a few wires to power the gauge. ollie ryan
going to sound like a cock but why would ylou need a windeband?does it monitor the air fuel ratio or allow you to alter anything or what? lol
Misterdan88
yeah monitors the AFR. i thought with the innovate kit you had calibrate it or somthing along those lines.. i could be wrong though
ollie ryan
so why do you need to pay £100 odd for wideband when you can get air/fuel which is £35 odd instead?
The_Notorious_C_A_T
You DO need to calibrate the innovate, you don't need to with the aem. They provide like any gauge, information on whats happeneing, eg the AFR's. Also with some ecu's you can tie them in for AFR target mapping.Wide band will give you the afr ratio, I believe an air/fuel will just give you rich or lean, but not totally sure about air/fuel gauges. Sparky
How would you calibrate it CAT?And as he said you can use them as a target setter for a specific AFR with ECU's like the Emanage Ulitmate etc
ollie ryan
so are they not worth having unless you have an aftermarket ecu?
nazzurro19
ive got jus a afr gauge from auto gauge it has lean normaland stoich and it goes up n dwn as i drive mainly sits in normalunless i boot it then it goes stoich i think its just a cheap piece of shitnot even sure where its plummed into lol
The_Notorious_C_A_T
I am not totally sure on how to calibrate it exactly, but iirc you need to take a fresh air reading first as it's base or something like that.
Misterdan88
well that clears it up 100% i wont be fitting it lol. still no1 have any idea how much it costs?
Asad
them afr gauges are poo poo from what ive heard....what values does it use to say your car is normal/lean/stoic? waste of money you need the exact value of there abouts to get the best power and to know whats going on......normal can have a big range as can lean etc etc
Sparky
I believe they are called narrow bands ^^^^
nazzurro19
mine came on the car Alredy lol i just dont wana remove it cause ill have a gap in the pod lol
enzo_e492901
I've heard that some Innovate widebands can be a little problematic. Apparently some on them keep losing calibration and to recalibrate them requires the sensor to be removed from the exhaust because it needs totally clean air or "free air", I believe. That could get very tiresome after a while. The problems that some people have discovered may be related to the way it's been installed, I don't know. The Aem ones come pre calibrated from the factory using a resistor built into the sensors plug, iirc. If/when you change the sensor it comes with the right value for that sensor.Gavin
ktl
Ollie, its worth fitting a wideband to your car once you start modifiying the engine. Ok it costs £150+ but in the long run you can monitor the afrs aswell as saving money and paying a tuner £100 each time to fuel tune it. Its saved my engine from going bang. Misterdan88
ktl did you fit yours your self or did you get some 1 to do it?
ollie ryan
Cheers for that ktl, will invest in one of them the nas I have noticed recently my car seems to be running abit rich, which would you recommend?
The_Notorious_C_A_T
I went with an aem when I had one, will go with one again most likely. No need to calibrate it and piss easy to fit, as long as you get the mounting point welded in, wouldn't cost much.
Asad
im looking for a wideband atm, anyone reckon we could get a trader to do a gb??
ktl
Ollie, its definatly worth buying, i brought mine from ebay next day delivery for around £150. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AEM-GAUGE-6-in-1-TYP...=item45eff60fa0this is the guy.misterdan - i did mate, all you do is go under the car and mark around the 10 oclock position if your going in from behind, from the front its 2 oclock, after the flexi pipe. remember the sensor is going here so make sure its not gonna clash with the bottom of the car once its fitted. take off the pipe, get it drilled , get the bung welded, put sensor in, and plug and play.I shorted the wires as the wires were too long and wanted to make things tidy. hope this helps.
