The paint i bought for it needs to be baked in a oven, there is a black plastic pipe thing at the back of the rocker cover which i tried to remove because i thought it would melt if i put it in the oven. I snapped the pipe getting it out and toyota don't sell them on their own. They take the piss because it is an import, i tried to get a standard rear fog light switch from a uk ep82 starlet to replace the shit one which is on there and they wanted £35! said it was part of the electrics its a fucking switch lol

Its plasti-kote industrial hot paint HP-16 blue from halfords. It would have made a lot of difference for only about £15 thats including the new seals from toyota, if i didn't have to buy a new rocker lol :p

i don't know what the finished colour will look like because i have not baked it yet, my mam won't let me use the oven so will have to wait till she goes out :o

Looks nice mate.

So you had trouble removing it and broke that piece (its called the pcv valve)

I need to take it off my old one as Im getting another one painted which doesnt have this valve so Im well worried it will snap off like urs did. That part you broke, toyota do sell in pieces but aint cheap.

Talk soon

Finally after a week of looking for this stupid valve the toyota garage have finaly managed to find it. So i can cancel the other rocker cover i ordered! Joz if you do snap yours the part number is 12204-10040 it costs about £19 which is better then the £45 i was going to pay for a second hand rocker cover. The part number for the washers which seal the top of the rocker are 90210-06013. Hope this saves anyone else who is going to do this, the ball ache it caused me. jon

Joz you should be fine removing the cover from the n/a

I practiced on the SR a few days ago as i'll be spraying it soon.

5/6 Top bolts, and 2 on the side holding the plastic cover on. Then get a flat screwdriver and gently prise it off.

Im not worried about getting the rocker itself off mate, more worried about the pcv valve as it looks delicate and easily broke. I need to transfer it onto my new rocker and dont want to buy a new valve. Thanks for your concern

Ah right i see! No probs! I just thought you was worried about the PCV valve getting damaged when you removed the cover!!

P.S My research says on DOHC theres no such thing as a 'Rocker cover' its a cam cover hehe!!

Well got the pcv valve, but i still can't drive the car as for £21.50 you only get the valve and not the plastic housing it locks into. I don't know how they can sleep at night charging that much for a piece of plastic that probably cost about 1p to make. Any way the part number for the housing is 90480-18006. I have put everything back together and just need that plastic housing then i can attact the intercooler and away we go after over a week without my car.

Ah well, a least u'll be sorted soon enough.

So if you break you pcv, you need to buy everything that you mentioned?

Give us a total when your done plz man. It could happen to me lol when I take my pcv off.

pcv valve was £21.84 part number 012204-10040

5x washers £4.58 part number 090210-06013

1x plastic housing ( don't know what it is called ) don't know how much till tuesday part number 90480-18006

will let you know how much that is on tuesday.

Thats a b*stard!

I sprayed the cam cover today and masked up that PCV valve, then just took the tape off to spray the valve too (dont know why)! The benefits of spraying it yourself!!
