Whitegv
went to start my car this morning and it started but with a miss fire, so turned it off checked all plugs and leads etc, oil and water fine.re started it it burbled a bit then was sound.thought no more of it till i went out again an hour ago and noticed a fair bit of steam coming out the exhaust.this time i checked the heaters (not working) expansion tank (full) and the steam was there when it wasnt yesterday.now i will admit i was giving it a fair bit last night. but let it warm up and cool down properly.the oil is ok so what im thinking is---- headgasket gone between a waterway and a piston? the car drives the same though, doesnt overheat on the temp guage and the fan doesnt come on. and after 5 - 10 secs of it running the miss fire goes away.i start my new job tomoro morning, do you think itll be ok to leave until the weekend when i can change it?cheers matt

Socks
err and an ep3 will be cheaper to buy? nope...headgasket wont be that much to fix and once its done if u skim head too will last yonks!
Whitegv
no i know it wont, but its gonna be more reliable at the end of the day, and i just replaced the head gasked with a skim on the head, whole new head, gasket and bolts last week
Socks
then it ether wasnt done properly or its not that at fault!
Whitegv
then it ether wasnt done properly or its not that at fault!if it wasnt done properly it would have gone pretty much instantly though wouldnt it? its not using stock turbo anymore, and it is a stock head gasket
shorty
Oem headbolts are wank especialy the ones dave sells if that's where you got em (dont get me wrong tm developments are awesome just not the headbolts) also are you not boosting .8 on td04? Wich is too high on stock fuling as you will run lean up the top of the revs!
Whitegv
im running .5 on standard reg with td fuel pump. i did think when the head bolts came they looked a bit sketchy tbh. should be ok at .5 on that fuel set up shouldnt it
Guest Enzo
aye
shorty
Yep tis fine, like enzo said bud. If they are the ones dave sells I had a set fail too, tbf I was gunning it had a boost spicke and also turned out my hg was .5mm to small for my overboar. Like I say don't get me wrong I get most of my parts off dave its just the bolts wernt great. I now use arp and tbh id love tobsee them try amd fail, quality of them is far superior to anything else. You can drive it off boost and keep an eye on temps at all times, used mine for around a momth daily for my 6mile comute and when we had the head off was fine and hadn't warped atall and I had it reskimmed but the engineer said it didn't need it, I was just over cautious. You will soon learn with starlets if your tuning them you will normaly expose a new weak point due to the age of them. Now you see how I've managed to spend so much in the persuit of big power don't give up bud, head is a weekends work if your happy to do it bud. Would recomend an athena hg too as they are awesome quality!!
