aaddzz123 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Just fitted a new engine in Murx and there is a strange whining noise coming from the belt area. I'm pretty sure the altanator and PAS belts are correctly tensionened and it sounds like its coming more from the cam belt area... It's a new belt with new tensioner and bearing... If the belt is too tight will it whine? Could it be anything else? The altanator and PAS pump came off my old engine and are fine.Maybe it's just normal for a new belt and bearing etc to whine a bit? Socks Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 it could be that adam, i did say it looked fucking old! does it hold temp ok?you could just try taking the water pump and alternator belt off and start it for like 10seconds see if the noise stops!? Quote

I hav just had all the belts including cam belt with tensioners done and i get the wierd noise alos ubt mainly just on tickover -1200 rpm.Ill be watching this one and hoping a solution comes about!
