Sparky
Hey guys just looking for some advice.Do I need any specific oil for the first run of my car? Its not had any machine work done to the block etc, just new rings and bearings really. Going to be doing around 200miles of off boost driving and then an oil change followed by another oil change after a 500 miles of a bit of boosting. My oil cooler will be fitted so wondering what grade of oil would be best to use? Also would I be right in saying Toyota 5.1 fluid can be used for the clutch also?Is there any specific power steering fluid I need? Thanks Lewis

james@cjperformance
@ sparky, i thought you were removing the pas? any powersteering fluid should be fine tbh try and get some thats red.as for engine oil, i used el chepo 10-40 synthetic and just gunned mine and never had a problem.oh and with the oil cooler it will need around an extra litre of oil.make sure you have all the lines for the cooler running in the right flow directions before you start. ktl
you need to run the engine in for the first 1000miles.use mineral oil from halfords 10w40, start car and hold the revs around 2k, for a like 10 -20mins. go out and do a 10 mile drive, drop the oil to get rid off all the crap thats inside, then do 1 at 100miles,then 250,500, 750 1000 use 10w4 fully/ or semithis is how i did my forged engine.
