Mr2_Badboi Posted March 27, 2011 Share Posted March 27, 2011 hi there,i have a starlet turbo,which i bought to run around in and now i have sold it to a friend..problem i have is,the car was fully stripped out,i put all the dash in and etc,so when my friend came to pick the car up,it starts then cuts out after 3 seconds or so,so i kept the key turned and it kept running and was ok, but now i think the starter has burnt out as its not doing anything,but the car was totally fine before has been stood still for around a month or so any ideas will be very gratefulli have cleaned the dizzy cap and leads there all fine please someone help me Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Mr2_Badboi Posted April 25, 2011 Author Share Posted April 25, 2011 so as soon as u go to start it it just clicks ?/right you know when you turn your key to start a car then you let go when its started??,the car used to run for 3 secs then cut out??,but if you kept the key on start it ran,but with doing this the starter was on load and glowing,but now the car will not turn over at all,but what i want to know it why would it run for only 3sec's then cut out has this never happened to anyone before?? nazzurro19 Posted April 25, 2011 Share Posted April 25, 2011 check the king lead by touching it on ya rocker cover and turning the car over if it sparks then its okthe clicking i wouldnt say is the starter motor , id say battery too cause when my car was left for a while i tried turning it over the car then started to whir slower n slower then it made a really loud clicking noise and i mean really loud, recharged the battery , car started instantlyonly other thing id check is all the spark plugs etc they might have flooded with the amount of turning over ya done , try giving em a clean etc Quote Link to post Share on other sites

daz gt turbz Posted April 25, 2011 Share Posted April 25, 2011 make sure the ingnitor has a good earth, mine had some of these symptons and turned out the earth points on the ignitor had corroded, so cleaned them up and made a little earthing strap to the bulk head which sorted the problem!
