hi there,

i have a starlet turbo,which i bought to run around in and now i have sold it to a friend..problem i have is,the car was fully stripped out,i put all the dash in and etc,so when my friend came to pick the car up,it starts then cuts out after 3 seconds or so,so i kept the key turned and it kept running and was ok, but now i think the starter has burnt out as its not doing anything,but the car was totally fine before has been stood still for around a month or so any ideas will be very gratefulli have cleaned the dizzy cap and leads there all fine

please someone help me :blush:

hi can someone please help me,

the ep82 which i have is still not running!!,and the guy who i have sold it too,is now got some people after me as i carnt get his car running,i wish i never took this job on,i sold the car was fully stripped out,then i put a full interior in it,and it was stood still for a while...then he came to pick the car up and started it,it starts then cuts out after 3secs?????,so then i kept the key on start it kept running???....and now it does nothing apart from a clicking sound from the passenger side dash,

is it fuelling,starter,coil what could this be as am really struggling???

so all help would be helpfull

so as soon as u go to start it it just clicks ?

right you know when you turn your key to start a car then you let go when its started??,the car used to run for 3 secs then cut out??,but if you kept the key on start it ran,but with doing this the starter was on load and glowing,but now the car will not turn over at all,but what i want to know it why would it run for only 3sec's then cut out has this never happened to anyone before??

so youve burnt the starter out? id try replacing that first of all then start again

yes the starter may poss be burnt,but its the running and cutting out bit want i want to resolve??,just want an idea what it could be,is it common??,has it happened to someone before,the car has been stood for 6 months id say

check the king lead by touching it on ya rocker cover and turning the car over if it sparks then its ok

the clicking i wouldnt say is the starter motor , id say battery too cause when my car was left for a while i tried turning it over the car then started to whir slower n slower then it made a really loud clicking noise and i mean really loud, recharged the battery , car started instantly

only other thing id check is all the spark plugs etc they might have flooded with the amount of turning over ya done , try giving em a clean etc

fuel pump maybe ? is there a whining noise like its priming when turning the car on ?

also check all ya fuses and relays ? specifically the EFI fuse

i have checked all the fuses and they seem fine,inside car and engine bay,but how do i check relays??,EFI Fuse where is that located??

make sure the ingnitor has a good earth, mine had some of these symptons and turned out the earth points on the ignitor had corroded, so cleaned them up and made a little earthing strap to the bulk head which sorted the problem! :p

ok mate il try that,does anyone have a kingpin lead,starter motor,for sale??
