wastegate question about the td04 turbo

does the td04 turbo run a internal wastegate or external one?

and if it does run a internal one does the kits you buy have it welded closed or are they manufactured without as its part of a kit?

they run internally dude and then if u wanted An external set up then just weld the pennyflap shut and get an external mani , wastegate etc

i feel like i know so much now from being on here and tgtt but i still have a few things that have me stumped which i will query at some point

but last night i thought nearly every td04 i have seen is running ext wastegate with screamer pipe etc and the ones you buy as a kit are like that so thats what made me think....so i had to ask

I think it's just that externally gated kits are much more common for better boost control and what not cause it's likely they are going to have a good bit of boost put through them!

But as above most people weld the penny shut but I'm sure one kit comes with a little bracket to hold it shut which I thought was quite cool!
