nazzurro19
im finally getting ready to pick up the last few bits and get on with my td04 conversion .. then i hit a brick walli understand when running an external wastegate you can control the boost with either a srping combination or a EBCwell ive got an EBC and im slightly confused on how to pick a spring .. have i got this rightif i was to use a 0.7 bar spring then all the way up through the revs there will be no boost as the pressure builds then when i hit 0.7 the boost will all come in at once ? or is it i will build boost up but at 0.7 the spring will be fully open so then ill hit more boost ? so surley is it not best to get a 0.3 bar spring etc?any explanations would be muchly appreciato
rorenapier
Your thinking is all wrong.Think of the External wastegate like an actuator, set your base pressure and go from there. Simples.
Ryan-11
if u have a 0.7 bar spring u wont be able to set the boost lower than 0.7 (so low boost will always be 0.7) but u can turn the boost up with a boost controller, if you aint using a boost controller then u will only boost to 0.7so what ever boost u want to run for low boost use that spring. nazzurro19
ahh so if i got a 0.7 bar spring i could still boost to like 0.3 on the gauge and get a lil power same as now then ?
N80Jamie
If you got a 0.7bar spring you could never boost lower than that unless you get a new spring

nazzurro19
yeah this is whats confusing me ... you say i wouldnt be able to boost lower then .7 ?but surly when i put my foot down its guna build up .1 .2 .3 .4 .5 .6 etc ? or will i just put my foot down nothing happen then all of a sudden BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST
N80Jamie
Your still going to get lag so yes in effect you will be going 0.1, 0.2 etc. Your full boost is going to be 0.7 though and nothing lower.

nazzurro19
well atm i have a 1 bar spring in there and the most i want to map/run is 1.2/3 so if i keep this spring i will just never hit full boost unless im ragging it or down the strip etc so really getting a lower spring is pointless ? cause i aint fussed at hitting full boost at any lower
string
I've got a .45 spring of you want it. Tenner plus postage. Then ya can run low boost for chillin as a td at a bar is quite a kick. Up boost to whatever with a controller. Plus it'd be safe at .45 till ya have injectors mapped etcTo answer ya question u can boost lower than spring pressure but full boost will be set at 45 till ya turn it up on controller. it comes on gradual like the ct9 but after .4 mine rises fast to 1,
