few questions about new engine

Recommended Posts

So here we go, finally got me engine rebuilt and in. Started first time with no problems bar a few oil leaks which are sorted. Went to a garage to get me exhaust sorted as what do you know my exhaust doesnt meet up with the WEPR kit :).

I have a few questions though to see if this is normal as its been over a year since ive driven the GT.

- The engine bay gives off ALOT of heat, i can feel it as soon as i open the bonnet! Is this normal?? The rocker cover is hot and so it the HKS oil cap?! And i havent even boosted it as i only drove down to the garage.

- Does the engine suppose to have earthing points? As i relocation to the rear and have about 4 points there but what about the front? Is there suppose to be some earthing points from the engine to the chassis??

- What should my gauges be reading? I get about 90 on water temp, 70 or so on oil temp and 2.5/ 3 bar on warm idle on oil pressure.

- What size is the eye bolts on the transmission tunnel? As the eye bolts for my harness fit in the other hole but not the transmission tunnel holes.

Cheers :D

Only question I can help with there is the gauge readings, all sound pretty reasonable.

My water sits at 80ish degrees unless I'm in traffic when it goes to 90 and the fan kicks in.

Oil temp is same as mine unless I drive it hard and my oil pressure goes from 4bar on cold to 1.2bar idle

^ Cheers Am, ive sorted the eye bolts one now as i searched it as i remembered a thread a member started with the same thing.

Just the heat and earth one to go as i swear the bay isnt suppose to be 'that' hot. The blower works fine aswell :)
