getting rid of power steering

hello all was just wondering if any one would have a clue as to what i need to get rid of my power steering as its a very heavy unit lol thanks in advance

you can get a non pas rack from a starlet without the powersteering but im not sure which model that would be. or you could just take everything off and block off the holes in the other rack i think. i havent done it but i have read a thread before on here somewhere. ill be taking mine off my next car aswell so ill need to know for sure

Remove the pump and the pipes, fit a non power steering rack. If you're not going to change to a non P/S rack then don't bother, I tried that on my car and it drove absolutely awful.

thank you both very much look like im off to get a non ps rack yay do i also need any new wheels for the aux belt or jus the non ps belt? and dont spose you know how much the unit actually weighs?

you cant just change the rack as the steering column will be too short,

you will have to find a starlet with non pas, and take the steering column out change the center of the columns over ( held in by a c clip at the top) as the non pas column is longer,

just go for it if you were willing to take off the steering rack then a bit of the column isnt much extra.

might do it wwen i come back from cadwell was gonna do it before but got to sorce parts and cash first, probs gonna need to spend all the pennys i have fixing it after track lol

yeh good idea lol. if you can get to a car breakers and find a non PAS one then should get the parts cheap
