earney
Product Website:http://www.quaife.co.uk/shop/products/qdf15e-1Can anyone confirm if this diff would fit into a 1997 Starlet Sportif 1.3? As far as I know its a EP91. Quaife returned my email stating they didnt know what cars it fitted surprisingly but sent me the diagram below. Their website states that it fits any FWD starlet but seeing as theres quite a few different FWD starlets out there I would like to be sure before I go spending the £600+ If anyone has fitted a different quaife diff to their EP91 could they let me know the model please as I think some of these diffs can be interchangable between cars.Diff is for motorsport purposes so this is why i have choosen Quaife as I already have a quaife diff in another car I have. joel_ep91
no that wont fit a ep91 non turbo as it's a 8 bolt pattern non turbo diffs and mk1 gt diffs have a six bolt pattern
earney
sorry im not very technically minded when it comes to these things. Is there anyway round this? will a turbo gearbox fit onto an 4EFE engine?
joel_ep91
yea turbo box will fit but it has longer gearing so might effect the driving of the car
rob_bower
Yea joel's spot on there as usual! Also why do you want to put a diff in an n/a? Seems overkill and a waste IMHO!Rob
earney
I do short rally stages and autotesting and need the grip to improve on times Joel you might be fimilar with lanes rallies as its in around antrim / dungannon / ballynahinch usually I competeThanks for the advice. Is it a straight swap gearbox for gearbox? Driveshafts I take it are different as well for the diff?
rob_bower
Ah fair play! Shafts might be the same I know later ones were just depends when they crossed over! If you can pop a shaft out and count splines it would make it more accurate!Rob
earney
Cheers, is there any turbo boxes in particular I need to be looking for? for example are older ones or gt boxes different? Or am I just looking for any box that comes with an LSD as standard
ryan33hks
If a turbo box has longer gearing then surely that would make it worse for you when your doing your autotesting? or do you just want a box with LSD..
rob_bower
Cheers, is there any turbo boxes in particular I need to be looking for? for example are older ones or gt boxes different? Or am I just looking for any box that comes with an LSD as standardif you get one with standard lsd you will need the matching shafts as standard lsd boxes hav a shorter shaft on one side! if you got a non lsd box then fitted an lsd the normal shafts would be fine!but yea longer gearing ion the tubby box may affect acceleration as the longer gearing maybe affected by the lack of power there used to be a couple of drag boys using na boxes due to the short ratio!hthRob
earney
cheers for the advice ill have a think about it. if i do decide to make the change ill be changing the box for a box with a diff already installed. I no they werent built for motorsport but at the minute im not willing to fork out for a new gear box, shafts and a quaife diff at 650 quid when the car only cost me 400 quid.
