bahahahaha! i was gonna suggest badger in a slightly different scenario, but hey, yours works and is FAR less crude ;)

dub, why is it using water? mine barely uses any. you got a leak somewhere or maybe a spot of HG failure maybe?

I fill up via the rad.

If you fill both the rad up and overflow bottle, what happens when you rad needs to overflow?

the overflow should be filled to the level, if the rad needs to overflow it'll prob use up the excess space in the bottle, then, if thats full, it'll just spill out everywhere, but it aint the end of the world.

if the rad needs water it'll suck it out the overflow bottle, in which case you'll notice its low (but there may still be water in the bottle) and top it up accordingly, there wouldn't be any need to stick water in the rad because its already taken what its needed from the overflow bottle.

yes but i need to know where the bleed plug is as i have drained the water out of the radiator and it is full of air so need to bleed it plus i filled up the bottle but it was not sucking any water into the rad and there is no water in the cooling system because i drained it all needhelp asap.

the bleeding plug is at the bottom of the rad mate, facing towards the engine itself (so on the inside), it's about half way along the rad, almost in the middle, its a little wing nut style screw thing which you undo (might need to tap it with the fat end of a screwdriver and a hammer or something to loosten it up if it aint ever been undone), then the water should start dribbling out there, its easier and less messy than ripping a hose off ;)

You'll need to take one or more of the undertrays off but its easy peasy and obvious when they're off.

Cool.

Was just hoping he was not topping both up to the top.

Im sure there is a bleed plug on the thermostat hosing also for letting air bubbles out when you have changed the coolant.
