Nads Posted December 30, 2011 Share Posted December 30, 2011 Can running to thin oil make the engine smoke ?Im running the engine on cheap oil atm to flush it through!think its 5w15 or 10w15i know i normally use 5w40 on my toyotas or should i use Higher grades ? what do you lot use ? I'd recommend something a little heavier now, given the engines are pretty old and starting to wear a little.Kep in mind it is winter, but i'd say use a 10w 50 this should give you plenty of "headroom" for when the temps are high and still be reasonable at cold starts etc.Always try to run a Fully Synthetic ester based oil.
