Can running to thin oil make the engine smoke ?

Im running the engine on cheap oil atm to flush it through!

think its 5w15 or 10w15

i know i normally use 5w40 on my toyotas

or should i use Higher grades ?

what do you lot use ?

Running an oil that is too thin could cause the engine to smoke. I'd recommend something a little heavier now, given the engines are pretty old and starting to wear a little.

Kep in mind it is winter, but i'd say use a 10w 50 this should give you plenty of "headroom" for when the temps are high and still be reasonable at cold starts etc.

Always try to run a Fully Synthetic ester based oil.
