ToyotaTech15 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Has anyone checked the idling oil pressure of there 5E engines?Forged or standard.Engine manual i have say 4.2/4.3 psi at idleGary Quote
Burny Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Mine was about 1.3 bar on warm idle, when cold it was as high as 5 bar on an unforged 5E Quote
Idrees Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 My 5E-FTE isn't forged, around 4 bar when cold and 2 bar when warm. Quote
Burny Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 ^^^ no wonder mine went bang lol, oil pressure dropped to about 0.8 when it started knocking! Quote
ToyotaTech15 Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 Did any of you adjust the pressure through the relief valve? i have heard of low oil pressure faults on 5E's Gary Quote
Idrees Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I haven't adjusted mine. Gaz was running over 300bhp on his 5E EP85, his oil pressures were the same as mine so I didn't see the need to adjust it Quote
Burny Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I wasnt aware that mine was low at the time, I've got a nice Sard gauge to check it when it comes back from tuning developments anyway :-) Quote
pockrockgtti Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 On my forged 5E i have placed a 1.5mm thick washer in the oil pressure relief valve. I get 80psi at idle when the engine is stone cold, once its warmed up it goes down to 30psi. Quote
Whitegv Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I get just over 4 bar all the time fully forged 5e Quote
