steve-gers
Ordered a powerflex bush for the rear gearbox mount I just bought and was wondering how easy or hard it is to fit? The old one is pretty dead could I just rip it out and scrape all the rest of the old rubber out or will I need to dril it out? And will the new one just slide in with the grease provided or will I need to press it in? Thanks
akyakapotter
You cut or burn out the rubber. Then need to press out or take a hammer and chisel to the metal ring to get rid of it grease the polybush and refit not a hard job polybushes make everything vibrate like a mofo but its well worth it and you get used to it very quickly :-)
steve-gers
It's an auto that I have so on good advice I have bought a manual mount (which apparently only needs a mounting hole widened to fit the auto box) and sticking the powerflex bush in it as they obviously don't make auto ones. Ok should be able to cut the rubber out hopefully as it's ripped to bits anyway, as for the metal ring does it chizel out in one piece or is it a nightmare? Yeah have heard it vibrates a bit but can't be any worse than the vibration just now with a fecked bush.
akyakapotter
all depends how handy you are with a hammer and chisel lol 1 of mine came out a right mess the othere to came out easy
steve-gers
I'm sure brute force and ignorance will sort it out for me lol. Not looking forward to converting it to manual when I finally get round to it, heard it's a bit of a pain in the ass. Anyway the set of mounts I got consisted of a standard rear gearbox mount (which I have mentioned) and the other 2 are trd ones so should give slightly less vibration if I ever decide to fit them.
